Kong's Gettin' Hodge

New log.
PL Background: I started entering PL competitions in 2011. I've had several ups and downs in life, bad coaching, good coaching, injuries, surgeries, recoveries, and I'm still here making gains. I love lifting and couldn't imagine life without it.

I currently compete in either the USAPL or USPA Raw open division as a 264+ or 308 respectively. I have competed in the past with knee wraps in RPS. Prior to 2016, I competed in the -264 or -275 class but I was tired of controlling the hodgemonster and let him grow over the last year and a half.

Meet History:

So getting hodge, learning about my own training response, and growing lifted me out of 1500 purgatory while catapulting me to the end range of 1600 land. I have a lifetime goal of hitting 1800 before I put the hodgemonster to rest and I hope that I can get there in this log.

DL: 395X4X4ez
KP: 165X5X2 165X4X2
Band Chins: 1 set
BB curls: 2 sets

Did the first two sets of the DL beltless because I should be able to do that and I wanted to verify that always wearing a belt doesn't make you lose beltless strength.

Had a sleep study last night. I am official on the sleep apnea team. I've probably been on this team for several years but kept putting the study off. The study last night kinda sucked in that the first half of the 7 hour night, I kept getting interrupted by the guy running the test. I was laying on the thing up my nose funny and screwing up the signal. I was moving around and pulling the wires out. He would wake me up to tell me to stop. Finally, he said, "I'm just going to hook you up to the machine and see what happens." I can't say that I had the best night sleep ever but once I got used to the thing on my nose, I fell asleep and pretty much DID NOT MOVE. Magic!

So the last 3.5 to 4 hrs of the test, I actually had good sleep. I was worried that today's session was going to suck due to only getting really about 4 hours of sleep last night but honestly, I had a great session. The 4 hrs were actually a very high quality 4 hrs. Probably the best 4 hrs I've had in years. And although I strive for 7-9 hours per night regularly, knowing how much I was interrupted last night by the test guy, maybe 50% of that actually counted on a good night. So, I'm excited to get my CPAP and hopefully realize the gains it has to offer not only in the gym but also in my life overall.

#teamsleepapnea FTW.

What's KP? Kipping pull-ups? Kneeling press?

Also I didn't realize you meant the heels on my shoes when you mentioned my squats on IG earlier. I did my whole volume block with flats and I liked it, but I figured these Adidas heels are so low that it's almost like squatting in flats. I just like the stability and the metatarsal strap. I missed out on those sweet Asics you use since they're discontinued. I'm considering Sabo in the future...

You can still get the Asics Hyper Throw 3's online. I thought about getting a pair in case my Hyper Throw 2's ever fail. I can vouch for the 2's. They are awesome for squatting. They are way better than chucks or soccer shoes. Squatting in heels held me back for years.

+1 for teamsleepapnea. I think it's mostly genetics/anatomy, but I like to pretend it's cuz hodgeness. Honestly, I hate putting that thing on every night but my life has 100% improved.

I too had an overnight in lab study, worst night's sleep of my life because they make you sleep on your back= constant apnea. Then they insist on a nasal only mask even though you tell them 100 times that you're an obligate mouth breather. Finally they give you a full face mask and you get an hour of actual sleep.

Dude comes in to wake me up in the morning, "Don't you feel great after finally getting good sleep?"

I'm glad you actually got some sleep there.

KPs are KONG Presses aka kneeling presses bc I'm too tall to standing press in my basement. I won't seated press unless it's really light. I've tweaked me tailbone in the past seated pressing too heavily.

When I checked, they were discontinued unfortunately.
