Zach's Lifting Log

#1

Post by ZNovelli » Tue Mar 31, 2020 7:27 am

Hello all!

Starting this log so I can keep track of all of my workouts, post some videos of my lifts, and hopefully being able to interact with everyone!

I am 22 years old and a former college lacrosse player. I am 5'10 and 175 lbs. As for my training history, I've bounced back and forth between programs which is one of my major problems. My best lifts prior to my last season starting were a 405 squat, 215 bench, and 465 deadlift. After the season started, it was hard to train and I lost a lot of weight, so obviously those lifts have gone down.

As soon as my power rack arrives, I am going to start with the basics of the Montana Method and then go from there. I will add/change stuff as I see needed, but at first, I am going to run it as the template suggests. For short term goals, I want to get my lifts back to where they were before the season started. I want to get up to around 185 pounds, and work on my overall body composition while also getting stronger. In the future, I would love to compete in a powerlifting meet.

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy, and let's make some gains!

Zach

Thanks, @Wilhelm ,

Weighed in this morning at 176.2 lbs.

My rack from Rep Fitness finally shipped, and should be arriving on Friday which I'm stoked about! Until it comes, I'll just be doing some random push/pull stuff.

3/31 Push Day
OHP- 115x1 @ RPE 8.5 (Will probably use this weight for my first OHP workout on MM)
Standing DB OHP- 35x10,10,10
Incline DB- 45x12,12,12
Side Lat. Raise- 10x15,15,15
Spoon Press- 35x20,20
Pushups- 3x15
Banded Pushdown/FacePull SS- 3x25 each

Overall, good workout with what I have to work with right now. Kinda sucks having to clean the OHP weight up, and my dumbbells only go to 45 pounds so need to find some heavier ones.

@Wilhelm Got the Pr-1100. Pretty budget-friendly for me and got pretty good reviews and should work well for what Im doing. Also picked up the AB-3100 Adjustable Bench from them, along with a rogue utility bench off the FB marketplace. Super excited as everything is coming together, just need to find some more 45 lb plates in the near future!

Very nice combo.
Those two benchs will give you a lot of options too.

Thanks for adding your log.

Whats up everyone!

Pretty much just worked on positioning for lower body lifts and did some leg accessories today. Want my positioning to be down so when I start MM I can jump right into it!

4/1 Technique Day
Front Squat- 135x5,5,5
Banded Leg Curl- 3x25
Banded Conv. Deads- 135x5,5 (Really just focusing on lockout and emphasizing it)

Worked a little bit on Sumo DL as well as ive always been a conventional puller. I don't know, it just doesn't feel right to me. I think I'll stick with conventional as that's where I feel strongest.

Gonna go for a long run this evening. Hope everyone is staying safe!

Wanted to see how some heavy deadlifts felt today, so I got after it. Also scored 4 45lb. plates on the FB marketplace which I am super siked about!

4/2 Deadlift+Pull Day

Conventional Deadlift- 375x1 @7.5, 315x3,3,3
DB Row- 60x12,12,12
Chinups- 5,4,4
DB Curl- 25x10,10,10
Hammer Curl-30x8,8,8

Was pretty satisfied with this deadlift, I'm guessing my absolute max would fall around 405 right now which I'm okay with. I should be able to build that up pretty quickly. Was a pretty quick workout today, but glad I got it in. Squat rack is finally coming tomorrow, so excited to be able to start benching a squatting this weekend.
