Looked to me like several of them were using low-bar placement, but with high-bar mechanics.

Re: XFit
USSF is untested. Probably because no one wants to pay for it. Regardless, the possibility of PEDs being used exists and would go uncovered.
I am sure that there is some nonsense going on with Xfit. What I’m saying is that there have been accusations from SS folks without direct evidence.

Re: XFit
That's sarcasm, right?
This "Fittest On Earth" shit should be nailed for outright fraud.
Yet...
This is apparently the best of CrossFit, that openly don't use "mainsite" bullshit "programming" most of the time.iamsmu wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 1:56 pmI was surprised that Fraser only pulled 525. I guess that 500 posted on the athlete page wasn't that out of date. . . The guy who did 595 said that he messed up and should have done a clean 600. He said that he had never tested his deadlift 1RM before, so that was a PR. Nice. It was his chain that fell off during the bike race. Oh well.

Re: XFit
In regards to Xfit mainsite programming and pulling 700lbs, that was and is a joke. It’s stupid beyond reproach. Running LP to the same number would yield a similar result. Running LP to 500lbs is plausible. Anyone affiliated with SS that has pulled 700 spent a decent bit of time after LP to get there. Considering a dude pulling 600 in just a few minutes, that’s pretty strong. It means the programming that dude was using, in conjunction with all the other shit he’s training, is decently effective.DirtyRed wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 9:55 pmThat's sarcasm, right?

Prior to Xfit doing testing, there was plenty of shade thrown from SS and other places about PEDs. So 4-8 years ago (check those archives), there were words without evidence.
Yes, I posted about Xfit and people failing PED tests. That’s because there is evidence that a ton of shit is going on. It’s not surprising.

Re: XFit
Well, it's not like PEDs are absent from the SS crew past or present... Rip likes to comment that crappy coaches hide behind the talent of their athletes. We might say the same about drugs...

Re: XFit
I think Sigmundsdottir said that she hurt a rib during the clean and jerk ladder. Someone else got injured in the first event when she fell off her bike. Another woman fell off the rope wall and messed up her ankle. . . . Vellner fell from the top and still finished 2nd. He banged up his ribs, but was fine.
Perhaps the worst thing this year was the people who still haven't learned to climb the damn peg board. It caused a lot of problems a few years ago. You'd think they'd wise up. Most did. Just a few couldn't manage a single climb. . .

Re: XFit
Synopsis:
I lol'd at the strict pressing.
I've seen Oly guys press from a front squat rack before, but that's surely not ideal at all. It baffles my mind that top end crossift competitors can't figure that out.
The squatting in the rain seems especially stupid.

Re: XFit
The one brah whose feet slip out from under him in the squat is lifting 50lbs more than he can handle in sneakers so fuck him. It looks like the Icelandic steroid chick's entire right side of her body shut down during the "lifting" event. This whole thing is just a slap in the face to the real sports and military basic training which they ripoff and dope up for. That cycling thing was just plain dangerous. Next year they should do a formula one type race. And actual combat. Have a nice sponsor tie in with Honda and Colt.

Total number of affiliates have been steady for a few years now. To make more money, they need to either make more money at each affiliate (thus allowing HQ to charge a higher fee) or expand its appeal outside the whitebread world. The former seems an easier task.

Re: XFit
I don't know the story about how the Crossfit/Rip relationship ended, but here's a story about how Robb Wolf and presumably Greg Everett and others got unXfitted a number of years back. I imagine there was similar drama with Rip.
