Was Bill Starr an Olympian?

#1

A couple of places on the web refer to Bill Starr as an "Olympian." For example:

"A former Olympian and Olympic Team Coach, Starr Man was an original York Barbell pioneer in the 1950’s."

"Maurelli played four years of varsity football at Johns Hopkins and later served as an assistant strength coach for three years under former Olympian and Olympic Coach Bill Starr."

Is that accurate? Did Bill Starr compete in the Olympics?

This site lists Starr as coming in fourth in the 1968 U.S. Olympic trails in his class.

And Starr's bio at the end of every CrossFit Journal article authored by him only lists him as having been an Olympic coach.

Bill Starr coached at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City,
the 1970 World Olympic Weightlifting Championship
in Columbus, Ohio, and the 1975 World Powerlifting
Championships in Birmingham, England. He was selected
as head coach of the 1969 team that competed in the
Tournament of Americas in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, where
the United States won the team title, making him the first
active lifter to be head coach of an international Olympic
weightlifting team. Starr is the author of the books The
Strongest Shall Survive: Strength Training for Football
and Defying Gravity, which can be found at The Aasgaard
Company Bookstore.

If the site is accurate he was not.

I don't think so . . .

But making me search leads to this:

What are we supposed to see? His heel coming off the ground? Bar height? Looking forward?
All I see is the Three Stooges haircut.

He seems to be high barring with a low bar exactly parralel stance. I think Rip was in love with Bill Starr's body. Thick legs and glutes and a gut to die for.

@strega lol at the three stooges haircut.
