Not Another Boring Creatine Guide...

What's a carb? A car part? What's a macro? A type of camera lens?

Interesting read, particularly about the effects of caffeine on supplementation.

Have a tub lying in my cupboard since last year, might need to re-introduce crea-roids in to my shakes for moar gainzZz.

Ya was very concerned initially reading this paragraph, then it was all good.

Hmmmmm...

I typically take between 200-400mg of caffeine before I train... which happens to coincide with when I dose my creatine... because I screwed up and bought way too much of the flavored crap from MyProtein (hint, don't do that) and it's basically unbearable unless I mix it with gatorade...

Been doing this for a while now and haven't noticed anything detrimental, but perhaps some experimentation is in order...

Even at 400mg, you are a little below the 5mg per kg bodyweight used "in many of the studies" when the effect was observed.

I'm not reading that as anything definitive, but just going by what that section of the article suggests might be possible levels that could induce the effect they really don't understand. lol

The GI discomfort angle seems quite possible too.
I just glanced at one of the linked studies, and they gace 100mb per kg bodyweught of creatine, along with 6mg/kg caffeine.

I take about 3 grams creatine in the morning, if i go much higher i can feel it in my stomach as slightly disturbing.
I've felt a racing sensation along with that.
I'm pretty sure 9 grams at once with 500mg + caffeine could have an effect that might well affect performance.

Somehow I missed that... admittedly I was distracted while I was reading/skimming it though...

I seem to be a non responder, or at least that is what I believe I am after a trial. Seeing that called a spectrum in the article is interesting. Maybe I should adjust the dosage and give it another try.
