Sweatpants that don't rip while squatting?

Bands, chains, wraps, straps, racks... are you sure this is training related?

Sweatpants that don't rip while squatting?

#1

Post by AaronM » Thu Nov 09, 2017 6:06 pm

Sooo, I put on some sweatpants for the first time this season, and ripped em good while squatting. They were X-Large Hanes cheap sweatpants from WM. Any inexpensive sweats that are somewhat stretchy and allow for squatting?

I was laughing right after it happened, so I wasn't able to finish my light set of 5. Good thing I train in my own garage. That would've been embarrassing if I was at the campus gym

They're already super baggy and look huge on me, but knees shoved out at the bottom of a low bar squat stretched their limit. Sooo, I just get XXL's now?

I don't understand.

Is the crotch hanging down low or something? Are you sagging your sweatpants?

Nope, I actually hiked them up slightly higher because they felt off while warming up.

I recently got a pair of MyProtein Tru-Fit Slim Fit Joggers (the women's version though). I've squatted, benched, and deadlifted in them. They're sufficiently stretchy (at least the women's version is). They retail for $34/38 (women's/men's) but MyProtein has so many discounts going, that you can get them for ~40% off. Having worn them, I would pay full price for them if there weren't so many sales all the time with MyProtein.

That did cross my mind, oddly enough

chrom mentioned joggers, I'll see what Academy Sports has that looks similar. Hopefully their changing rooms have sufficient room to practice squatting. Sure would be awkward if I ripped them and had to explain why

But with some shorts over them, right?

Don't they have some kind of men's yoga pants that make you look like Aladdin? I don't think you are allowed to wear them unless you have a top knot though.

I had some shorts split in the ass the other week during squats. I heard it, but thought it was something else. I ended up wearing them to the store. My wife noticed the giant rip when I was in the produce area. . . .

I've got a couple pairs of (don't laugh) Lululemon training pants. Those things are so stretchy you'll never rip them plus they look good on your legs as they are very form fitting.

Wait -- is "produce area" a euphemism for where the rip was on the shorts?

Might as well be.

Off topic: Just noticed that the rhabdo article is back on the front of the NY times. What's up with that?

What’s the correct answer here ?
I rock shorts at the gym but I would do yoga pants.

I’m not shy. It would be ironic. As I pulled sumo.

You should ask Pharaoh about his thoughts on pulling sumo while wearing yoga pants

$5.99 fruit of the loom sweats from WM have never failed me. Going with Hanes must’ve been your first mistake here.
