Re: 2019-2020 NFL Thread
They only had, like, 3 starters break their legs during a pre-season game. Looking good!
My favorite thing about this season of football is going to be Kirk Cousins talking about how sweaty his center's crotch is. Nothing will top that, short of some team hiring Kapernick and the heads of every MAGA chud in the stadium literally exploding when he takes the field.
Also, I will continue not watching a single NFL game, and doing my best to avoid watching any college games as well.

Yeah. I guess if I were from Boston I would have started this thread. I hope Gronk stays retired. Maybe my Steelers have a chance then.BostonRugger wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:49 pm We have football again (sort of)!

Re: 2019-2020 NFL Thread
It is business.
Elliot has maybe a 5 year window he is 2 years into to get paid. RB's have a short shelf life. He is set to make $3 million this year. That is way below his value. He is holding out because this is his only chance to get paid.
Cowboys want to pay him. They are not stupid but know they can't build a team if they pay max for Dak, Cooper, or Elliot. And Elliot has to realize that the RB market is not set by what a couple of idiot teams paid. So Bell and Gurley are at $12 million plus a year? That is fucking stupid and shouldn't set the market for RB's. Gurley was replaced by a guy off the street in the playoffs that was more productive. Come the fuck on.
I believe the Cowboys have offered Elliot 3-4 years at $10 million a year. And Elliot will take it after a game or two because he has no real leverage. The Cowboys have him under contract for 2 more years (and this year gets rolled over if he sits out).

Re: 2019-2020 NFL Thread
The first preseason game was on in the gym. Paying about 7% attention to it (I can't even recall who the Falcons were playing), I still saw a penalty for tackling an advancing ball carrier, and one truly baffling instance where both ball carrier and tackler lowered themselves into the hit in the EXACT same fashion, to the point where they hit each other on the exact same spot on each other's helmets, and the refs somehow deduced the ball carrier deserved to be penalized.
Stop watching this insulting garbage. You've got baseball until hockey season, and then hockey until baseball season. Even the sort of softskulled numpty that would eject a player for literally nothing beats the nu-NFL.

Re: 2019-2020 NFL Thread
There are exactly 2 good things about baseball.
Calling home runs "dongers" and watching players do things like turn a grounder single into a 4-run inside the park homer or misjudge a fly ball and get hit in the head. i.e. watching the Orioles.
I guess sometimes a cat or a bird gets on the field, that's fun too. Going to a park is fun if only to get early-evening-drunk and eat a bunch of garbage, but tickets to the majors are too expensive to pay to sit in the sun and watch a bunch of people standing around for 3 hours, so just go to a minor league game and pretend like the players could actually afford to eat lunch that day.

Re: 2019-2020 NFL Thread
I think that this season will be better to make an overall assessment on him. Playing 1 season where teams don't have ample footage of you running a pro offense put him at an advantage because people really didn't know what he could do. Not that he is a bad player, but he was really lucky last year on a good number of passes. I think this season we will see more defenses putting him in those situations a lot more to make him try and make a play or throw it away. It will be interesting to see how he does.

I agree with this. Much like the opponents will adapt to Mahomes, he'll have to keep things moving in the development arena as well. Luckily, it's only his second season coming up.LexAnderson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 7:23 amI think that this season will be better to make an overall assessment on him. He was a blast to watch last season, and undoubtedly good, I'm just trying to figure out where he may rank with the greats.

@PC he was totally fun to watch last year, I am just hesitant to jump on his bandwagon right now. I'd like to see him continue his level of play, it is good for the league to have these types of players around.

I know that it will be tough repeat the performance of last year once teams get some more film on him, but I'm really excited to see what Brady can do after he gets a few more years in the league under his belt.BostonRugger wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 11:51 am
The AFCCG last year was the past and the future of NFL QB play.

Re: 2019-2020 NFL Thread
Moving to a different topic in the NFL, Antonio Brown has really lost his mind, and my respect (which I know counts for nothing to him.) First the frostbite on the feet, then this whole helmet issue that he has going on. Just crazy distractions that shouldn't be happening to a vet who is in the first year of a new deal.
