Re: Instagram
A friend has sent me a tablet so i can use real Instagram instead of the desltop app.
Just going to use it via my home wifi.
Verison Elipsis 8 hd. It's Android. Unused, except as a clock in her house.
Techy friend gave it to her for free.
I'm actually glad she didn't have an old phone that worked. I think a tablet will be a better fit for me.
Hopefully i'll be able to post videos again soon.

Re: Instagram
So, ads.
I'll definitely be using the tablet and PC in conjunction with each other.
I'm used to what i think is a better view on the PC, and i can use DMs now and upload using the mobile app.
It just seems really cramped, but i guess a person just gets used to that style these days.

lsmft1963. I don’t have any content as of now. Never really been a social media guy. I got an IG account because a lot of stuff that I’m interested in is on IG, and I might try to post some videos and so forth. We’ll see how it goes.

Re: Instagram
I have a tablet i use for only that.
Don't own a smart phone.
Camera on the tablet is crap, so i use my little canon powershot with the SD card adaptor that you slide the micro card the tablet uses into.
I always use my camera for recording my sets anyway, and just pop the micro into the tablet for uploading to IG.
I use the InShot app to trim and convert the vids.

Re: Instagram
It seems like you'd need an app to post video? I found a way to display IG on my PC as if it were a mobile. That allowed me to upload images, but not videos? Does this sound right?Wilhelm wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 7:10 amI have a tablet i use for only that.

A note:
If folks add me and I don't accept, it’s probably because I have no idea who you are. Feel free to send a dm as a heads up. Thanks!

Yeah, that's right about only being able to post pics from the mobil view on PC.PC wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 8:43 amIt seems like you'd need an app to post video? Evidently, they want to keep people from posting "professional" videos with desktop editing software, or some BS like that, so it's mobile device only for videos.
They should just allow vids from PC.
As i mentioned a few posts up, my friend had a Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD tablet she was given and didn't use, and she sent it to me.
If you get a phone or tablet, just use your home wifi , and you don't need a mobile plan.
I think all you need is the IG app, but many people use InShot.
I just couldn't figure out how to trim with the tablet while still getting audio.
Plus i need to convert file type from my camera to something IG will accept, and InShot does that.

Re: Instagram
I see. I take the video on my phone, but shoot it over to PC to trim. I could always send it back to my phone, but I think I should learn to trim on the phone. Thanks!

Re: Instagram
To clarify, i use InShot on the tablet to trim and convert.
if the vid is on your phone, no need to put it on PC.
I just need to convert mine (with InShot)because i take them first on a regular digital camera, then put the micro SD from the camera into the tablet, and IG doesn't accept that file type.
camera on the tablet is crap, and besides, i have things set up physically for the camera. Where it sits, lighting, etc...
Edit to add, if the file stays the same after you have it on your PC, and IG will accept it once it's back on your phone, then you could still do it the way you do, trim on PC.
But yeah, it's an extra step.
I'm stuck and have to do it how i do bc of the file conversion needed.
Phone should automatically have the correct file type for IG afaik (don't own a phone)

It looks like the app is able to trim videos at time of upload (on mobile).
My IG handle is @PCLifts, I'll be posting form checks and PRs as they come up.
