He Skillin It - Skillin's Log

#1

Post by AdamSkillin » Wed Jul 08, 2020 7:46 am

Background:

I've been lifting in a serious, programmed manner since Fall of 2012. Earned a credential in late 2014. Began working with an online coaching company in December, 2016, and quit my 9-to-5 job to coach full time in August, 2018. Purchased a home with my wife in historic Freehold, NJ and set up a garage gym just in time to be able to continue lifting through the Great Toilet Paper Famine of 2020.

Age: 38
Weight: 162 (-ish. Haven't bought a scale yet)
Gym PR's: Squat - 445, Press - 205, Deadlift - 550, Bench - 300 (all weights in pounds, obvs)
Height: Not much. Five feet six and one quarter inches.
Boots: Red Wing Iron Rangers
Garage Gym: Hot in the summer, heated in the winter, 10 feet high, pretty level, 12x20 not subtracting for the washer and dryer. 1 Titan T-3 squat stand, Titan dip attachment, a mix of bumpers and iron, a B&R 1.0, Rogue Echo Bar, Cap OB-86B, and a Legend Fitness 3103 adjustable bench. A couple accessory bars.

Training history - Did a whole bunch of really dumb stuff in the gym back when I was competing in amateur MMA (weighed in at 128.6 for my last fight!) a billion years ago, then some less dumb stuff. Have competed from time to time in both powerlifting and strengthlifting.

Wow, I didn't expect the entire welcoming committee. Good to see everyone again. Excited to be here. And to quikky's question, yeah, that's me.

7/9/2020:

Bench (touch-and-go): 292.5x1x5 (will use weight x reps x sets here, so this is how I denote 5 singles)
Press (No hip throw currently, some layback though): 155x5x5

Ah, sweet! We go way back to paleolithic times, if you recall.

quikky - I recall
augeleven - Nice! Monty Python humor is always welcome in my log (sadly, almost never in my living room).

Paused deadlift: 365x3x5

Here's the first squat single:

Good to hear. That was rep 1, which I filmed because I wanted to take a quick look at some technique stuff that I'm really good at screwing up. Third one was definitely slower.
