Ohio Power Bar, 45-lb Plates, 25kg Calibrated Plates

#1

Post by Manveer » Fri Dec 15, 2017 6:36 am

I have an Ohio Power Bar (45-lb, bare steel), six (6) 45-lb plates, and four (4) 25kg calibrated Rogue competition plates to sell.

The bar has a patina, but also slight surface rust on one of the collars. Straight, probably failed <10 reps with this bar. $150

The 45-lb plates were purchased new from Rogue in Oct 2014. $150

The competition plates are brand new in box. $365

Why not keep the new plates? Nevermind, you probably need to fund an oil change.

I can load 711 lbs with 5 reds per side and change. That's enough for now.

Wait, did you get a new bar? And didn't you just buy the comp plates?

He bought a 20kg OPB because he's anally retentive.

He got 459kg at one shot. He knows he's weak and needs to pay for expensive car maintenance.

Yes, the plates came in a 459kg set. I don't need 459kg, so I'm selling the excess.

Oh, I didn't notice the new bar.
I wish I was closer, I want a bare steel OPB.

Having plates calibrated within 10g and then using a 45-lb bar is stupid. The 20kg bar seems to be built with tighter tolerances than the 45-lb version too. Narrower collars means a little less whip. If I'm going to the trouble of getting comp plates I'd rather have all the equipment be the same as what I'd use in a comp.

Son of a bitch. Why did I read this thread? Now I have to try not to talk myself into spending a day and a bunch of cash driving to Cincinnati and coming home with a bar and a shitload of plates.

I've been married quite a while, so I don't think my wife even needs to be present for the conversation I would have with her.

Me: So Manveer bought a bunch of new weightlifting stuff and is selling his other stuff at a great price.
Wife: Who's Manveer?
Me: Some strong dude on the internet.
Wife: What's he selling?
Me: A bare steel Ohio Power Bar.
Wife: Don't you already have two perfectly fine barbells?
Me: Yes, but his one is cool too.
Wife: Bare steel huh? Won't that rust in your uninsulated, sometimes humid garage gym.
Me: Probably. He's selling a bunch of plates too!
Wife: Don't you have plenty of plates already? In fact aren't some of them on the floor because you ran out of room on your homemade plate storage?
Me: Yes, but some of these palate are in kg and calibrated so they actually weigh what they say they weigh.
Wife: So now you want to mix in kg plates with your lb plates? Does it really matter if the weight is off by a bit anyway?
Me: Um, well...
Wife: Where would you have to drive to pick all this up anyway?
Me: Cincinnati.
Wife: That's not close.
Me: Yeah, not really.
Wife: How much?
Me: A bit under $700 if I bought the bar and all the plates, A little over $500 if I just bought the cool kg plates.
Wife: Aren't we trying to pay off your car as fast as possible and free up a bit of income so we can buy a nicer house closer to work and substantially shorted your commute.
Me: Yeah, I should pass on weights, but it's such a good deal!

But what about pound competition bumper plates calibrated to within 15g and then using a 20kg bar?

Broheim this is such a steal but you are way too far away. Have you considered asking any local CF boxes if they'd want to buy them?

Greater miracles have happened. For instance, my wife signing off on calibrated kg plates (and comp collars, and a new bar).

Also silly.

I haven't posted this on CL yet. I would have posted it last weekend, but I was traveling M-Thu this week so it didn't make sense. I will take some pics and post tomorrow. I don't expect it will take long to sell.

Not sure about the Cinci vs. Indy market, but my uncalibrated non premium plates sold in less than a week for asking price (65 cents/lb).

Bought your plates (340lbs) for $221
Bought an extra 50lbs for $71 (10s, 5's, 2.5's).
All in, I paid $292 plus the gas/2 hour drive, and got $250 back.
$42 for the gainz

Hmm. Good to know. I will probably list at a higher price on CL. People are listing plates at crazy (high) prices around here.
