I can't bench twice a week. Doesn't work for me. I'm never going to stop shy of failure, and hitting RPE10 two days a week on multiple rep ranges of the same movement is a recipe for what I have now- dropping 1rm.

Singles didn't feel great, but volume was solid. AMAP was probably @9, 9.5. Humidity was high, not used to that yet. Pulled out the Doomfan between the top reps and the volume.

I think taking a step back from failure, focusing on getting good reps, and trying to check ego might be good.

Decided to finish with a few BB curls, right elbow instantly said to go fuck myself. Waved some plates around for my delts instead.

The only thing that got me out today was the fact that I am a person that goes out to the garage and lifts weights in the morning. I didn't want to. Came downstairs, had my espresso and protein, laid down under a blanket, cat snuggled on top, almost said fuck it. Took a little extra time, but I ended up getting the important stuff done.

Looks like some pretty decent deadlifting for almost saying fuck it.

We did so much driving with the 7 and 4yo that I wouldn't wish the trip on an enemy.
That said, New Origin in Ashville was really good. Not "make a trip to Ashville" good, and overall our tiny bit of time in Ashville was kind of mediocre. I'm sure there are better parts than we saw, but my quick impression was run down, dirty, sort of sketchy. If I was still into beer I would probably say just go to Grand Rapids. And if you've been there, go again. Then perhaps consider Ashville, but go to GR again.

Biltmore was... complicated. We just walked the gardens because we didn't think the kids would be into a tour inside, but it was equal parts awe inspiring and nauseating. One minute it felt like "holy shit, this is like an extravagant movie spectical" the next you remember the blood and broken backs that went into amassing enough wealth to make something like that possible. I want to go inside someday.

Smokey Mountains was somewhere I had been as a kid with my parents, so not much memory. Overall two big thumbs down. 1+ hour drives to a short hike, then back to Pigeon Forge, the most wreched hive of crass tourism the world has ever seen. Kids would have loved it if we just hit every shit shop and mini-golf spot in the town, I would have died. Gatlinburg seemed a little nicer in spirit but was packed with Trumper and Trump stores and stuff. People were gross and it was super busy.

Sounds like I'd have agreed with all of your sentiments. Still, New Origin - noted. We have a tentatively planned trip that way later this year, so I'm going to make sure that we hit it.
