No - right around when I turned 40, caffeine and all of the other fun stimulants that I’d enjoyed suddenly started giving me anxiety attacks. I miss slamming a Red Bull as I walked into the gym.
I've noticed the same thing. All the fun things I used to do....drinking beer, chewing tobacco, staying up late, having more than one cup of coffee - all those things give me anxiety now so I just act like a boring dad instead
All the same in my case, except the beer thus far. 🙏

__________

5/7/24

Squats 45x6,6 135x6 225x3 255x3,3,6
Seated Leg Curls 90x12 100x5,6,6
Seated Calf Raises 80x10,10,10 + 45x10 (drop set)

Notes: Of course the leg press that I’ve been using for unilateral work is out of order. How the fuck does one break a horizontal leg press? I guess I could have done lunges or something instead. (No chance.)

Three full days of rest didn’t leave my legs any less sore. Was pleased with the squat work, though. Pulled the floor up on every rep, all of which felt and looked uniform or very close to it.

It pleases me to see another "FULL" t-shirt-sporting individual in the periphery of that set.

Never mind what he's up to. Comparison is an act of violence against the self, and the thief of joy. You do you, good sir!

There is L-Citrulline that you can buy. Its not a stimulant, it just improves blood flow. Might even have some health benefits if you have high blood pressure. I bought a big bag of it and usually have some before lifting

Kids. Kids are how one breaks a leg press. They find a way to break and destroy everything

Thanks for this - looks like something worth trying and I've been on a bit of a supplement kick lately (mostly vitamin type stuff beyond the usual, like cinnamon).

You're exactly right. I have no idea how whoever did it, did it, but no chance they were over 22.

Just make sure you get something sweet/tangy to mix it with. I rolled my own for a while and this stuff is not something you want with just water or something unflavored hahaha

5/9/24

Superset:
Press 45,95,115,135x5 155,165x1
Pullups x7,7,7,6,5

Superset:
Incline DB Bench Press 40s,50s x10 55s x6,6
Incline DB Curls 35s x7,7,8

Superset:
Preset EZ Bar French Press 70x8,10
Lateral Raises 35s x10 40s x6

Notes: Back to pressing in an effort to drive bench. First time that I’ve pressed since last summer, when I did so for a brief period after a year or so away from it. Given that my lifetime max is 180, I’ll take 165 on day one, yessir.

I switched out low incline DB bench for actual incline DB bench. Decided that I’d rather grow some bigger chesticles than be concerned with keeping the movement closer to flat bench.

Second set of lateral raises were some cheatin’ shit. Don’t care.

Soundtrack: Replicant / Infinite Mortality

Is that a Planet Fitness?

I thought they didn't have squat racks, but that color scheme...

Man, your form on press and squat is so dialed in. I'd totally use you as my demo dummy.

It’s an Anytime Fitness, and fortunately happens to be a really good one. I’ve been to a bunch and they’re very hit and miss. As far as I can tell, they’ve been buying up other gyms and sticking an Anytime Fitness sign out front. Now I’m wondering if it was a Planet Fitness at some point, but they actually replaced the equipment.

Now that you mention it I think those actually are AF colors.

I like AF but the variety of the equipment is inconsistent across locations (for example one of the ones I considered using in CA didn't have an adductor machine at all).

Also kind pricey. But the easy 24 hour access with the key fob is nice.

Yup. I went to one in nowhere Ohio while up there over Thanksgiving and it was one of the worst gyms to which I’ve been. Years ago I was an LA Fitness member. Place sucks but at least you knew when traveling that any one of them would be nearly a clone of your local spot.
