5/6/2024

Axle Press*
160x8, 175x8, 185x8
200x6, 215x6, 225x6, 180x3x4

Close Grip Bench
225x12x2

Landmine Row
100x15x2

Super Bar Curl
90x10x3

French Press
50x12, 60x12x2

8's are strict, 6's and 3's are not...

New bar got here early... super nice, feels pretty different with the steeper angle. I can see this being useful but I'm not ready to totally trash my beater curl bar yet... I can see wanting one of each and in the future I'll likely get one too... maybe a red one hahaha

Big shock, slight pivot...

Was gonna just run a deload and then another 4 week like I just did, but I already wanted to change up some of the supplementals and literally on my drive home I decided to do this...

This is some BBM programming that I usually modify, and I still might, but for at least the week I'm gonna just get through it (fingers crossed behind my back). I don't know how beneficial the axle will be, but I have a better time push pressing it and don't want to change implements just because I go from strict to not...

Since my main goal right now is still just getting jacked, if I can cram more volume into my time slot probably not a bad idea...

Totally not because I have training ADHD right now...

I for one support your pivot.

I mean, given this…

RDL
315x8, 345x8, 365x8

Squat
365x6, 385x6, 405x6, 315x3x4

Ukranian Deadlift
225x10x2

Well that all sucked as hard as I thought it might..

UK's need a much better setup, hopefully I can figure out something over the weekend because I'd like to use them for once... ya know... with them actually being UK's...

Incline Bench
205x8, 225x8, 245x8

Bench
275x6, 295x6, 305x6, 225x3x4

Arnold Press
50x10, 50x8!*

Hammer Curl**
75x15x3

Tricep Band Extensions
3x20

Well there's a mod... there's another overhead movement in that second slot that I subbed for flat bench because I want to keep benching...

*hey that was unexpected! All of a sudden my left side decided it was out of gas... let's revisit next week and see how it goes...

**inner most grip of this new curl bar, more vertical than my MGB and a much better ROM, I'll progress these pretty quick but wanted a higher rep range than Monday... kinda disappointed at first but a decent pump showed up at the very end...

Deadlift
405x3x8

Leg Raises*
1x15, 1x12, 1x10

*doing these on a bench is way better, subbed in in place of a unilateral leg spot because I'm good looking like a chicken if the chicken has a big back and shoulders...

Eating salad after training is so lame...

I mean on the upside it was mostly chicken but still...

I'm trying to behave now because I'm taking the two oldest to game 5 for the Amerks (an NHL do or die game 7 for the minor-league-hockey-uninitiated) and I told them I'd take them out for wings before so...

Fair play. Honestly that's nearly the only time that I eat healthy - to (hopefully) offset a meal that's gonna be extra unhealthy.

Well damn, I think you kinda won.

Posted this morning about how he "did his first comp two years ago" and "just doesn't know if his body can keep up with it anymore". (I think he has competed twice, maybe three times) He will "miss the aggression and the power" and "doesn't know the path going forward".

"Getting older massively sucks that's for sure."

Just a gentle reminder that he's *checks notes* three years younger than me...

Everybody thinks they're Novikov or Hooper until it actually gets hard. He didn't even get a real injury, I'm pretty sure I've self-aspirated more than one of those cysts and not really thought much more about it. And I am by no means the epitome of perseverance and fortitude. You'll see him again and again, with different names but similar trajectory to all of his endeavours. He's a princess and doesn't realize it. Sucks to be right though.

As a suggestion, perhaps try out dips with a band for a few sessions? Every time I re-introduce dips I feel nervous about doing them, but doing them with a band (so that my bodyweight is deloaded at the bottom) feels good to get the confidence back.

It dawned on me as I read this that I literally have a slingshot sitting on the shelf that could probably be incredibly helpful in this situation...

We will see...

RDL
345x8x3

Squat*
325x3x8

Wide Stance Box Squat**
225x12x2

*possibly 9 sets, I lost mental count somewhere...

**clearly I didn't rig up something, deep ass deficits sounded like crap and sumo sounded worse so I'm hoping these will HELP the hip versus hurting it. A healthy hip is a strong hip right? These are a bit above parallel (I know even higher than I normally box squat) but I'm aiming to keep the movement in my hips so... fine by me... add a set next week...

Tricep Band Extension

*made a lot more sense today

Overall the whole session felt a bit too light, but whatever...

Edited 5/18 for BW

BW: 251.1**

Squat
290x8x3

Deadlift
425x3x8

Leg Raises
2x15, 1x12

Jamming this into like 30 minutes sucked so much harder than seeing it written out but I have grill duty at a grad party and the rest of my calories tonight are coming from White Claws...

**daaaaamn that's probably the dehydration talking but I'll take it. I'm gonna brace for a bounce back this week but hopefully not too bad. On paper this might happen to as I might move my weekly check to Friday morning instead of Saturday. Difference is I'm up way earlier because I've been working Fridays again so I usually weigh a touch more...

I'd give you shit about your choice of drink but those things have put me on my ass.

This is one of the many reasons why you're strong and I'm not. If I were capable of 290 for three sets of eight (Narrator: "He's not.") I would never lift 290 or anything else less than 315. I'd do that for three sets of five or whatever and try to turn them into eights, bash my face against the wall for weeks trying to make that happen, and ultimately get fucked up and start over with the empty bar for the 10435th time. Now that I'm good and depressed, someone pass me a White Claw?

To be fair my wife asked me to get them, I only drink seltzers when I don't want to be bloated, and I made sure I got the case of the 8%er's...

She had one... I had... six or seven I'm not sure...
