The Shaw Classic
I just dropped 500 on tickets for the whole family next month in my hometown. Last year my boys loved it. Id love to be able to see the 6'9 400 pound monster face to face this time, maybe shake his hand. I heard hes a nice guy. Anyways its good to get my boys into strength and macho stuff, god forbid they turn into beta males lol

Haha, nice move on getting the tickets! I'm sure your boys will love it again this year. Yeah, the 6'9" 400-pound monster is definitely an intimidating presence, but it's great to hear he's a nice guy too. And I totally get what you mean about getting your boys into strength and macho stuff - it's awesome that you're encouraging them to be confident and strong.

Re: The Shaw Classic
i went to the Shaw Classic strongman comp last night, and saw Thor deadlift 991. that was pretty cool. taking the family again tonight for the final 4 events. even the wife liked it, which was unexpected considering she could care less about anything strength related.

Re: The Shaw Classic
1. Mitchell Hooper
2. Thor Bjornson
3. Lucas Hatton
Not sure how Thor ended up winning 5 of the 8 events but still came in 2nd. Good show though, the boys loved it and so did the wife, surprisingly

Re: The Shaw Classic
I'm guessing he placed worse than Hooper in the three he didn't win. From what little I understand of strongman scoring that would explain it.

Re: The Shaw Classic
The bigger the field, the more damage a bad event does. He lost a ton of points on both overhead events, the medley and the DB, while Hooper seems to have finished no worse than third on anything. You can win a contest without winning a single event if someone else has a bad event and you don't. Hooper's worst points on an event was 13, Thor had a 7 point and an 8 point event. That's a lot to make up.
