The Cheap Whey Thread

What's a carb? A car part? What's a macro? A type of camera lens?

Aye!

Thanks for this! I went ahead and got a couple of kilos of whey isolate and a half kilo of the clear stuff.

(my) Costco has ON Gold Standard for $15 off right now, so $49 for 5.64lbs, 24g P per scoop.

Appreciate the heads-up. My Costco's running the same sale.

Once I finish my current bag, I'll find out if the S'mores flavor tastes like ass (in a bad way).

I’m not sure if this counts, but I just discovered that Costco sells their own protein bars that have 21g of protein and 10g of fiber per bar. They remind me of those old Powerbars, and I think they’re copies of Quest(?) bars although I’ve never had one of those. A box of 20 bars was $20.99, which seems like a good deal for 21g of protein and 10g of fiber per serving. Only 2g of saturated fat, too, I think.

Costco protein bars are life. It’s a go-to travel food.
Make sure you drink plenty of water if you’re having more than one in a day, though…

They're horrible. The cookies and cream flavor is probably better than the rest, in my opinion, but good god they're hell to get through.

Totally worth the bulk price, though.

I got the chocolate with peanut butter chunks in it. I don’t know that I’d say they’re good, but they’ll suffice for my needs.

Maybe Exodus should come up with a protein bar that has 20+ grams of whey, 10+ of fiber, is actually tasty, and costs less than $2 per bar.

I get the chocolate and chocolate chip Costco flavors. I like that they are not too tasty - it helps me not eat the whole box right away. The price and macros work though

This^^. They're now my protein bar of choice for the macros and price alone.

I may have to give them a try.

I'm always down for cheap protein, but not sure if I can go back to Quest (I have one left at the bottom of my pandemic stash bin, and I always pretend I don't see it when I go digging for something).

Coincidentally the Pure Protein bars are on sale at Costco too. Those are pretty good. Not as good with macros as the Kirkland once, but taste much better
Though I should probably start working on getting more fiber. The only fruits my kids eat any more are strawberries (such a pain) or grapes (I have a serious grape aversion, that's the only fruit I had growing up so I hate them now) so my fruit intake has been bad.

Fucking awesome.

Thanks for this.

ETA: I ordered 55 pounds of protein for $343 shipped. That is by far the cheapest I've gotten it in a long time. Should be about enough to last a year.
My estimate was pretty close... I am now in need of more protein.

I played around with myprotein's site and it doesn't look like coupons stack anymore.

Unflavored Bulk Supplements whey protein concentrate is currently cheaper than anything I could find with myprotein coupon codes at $20.76/kilo.

MyProtein has 35 serving Lemonade clear whey for $30, free shipping. They have a 45% off with MYDEAL right now too. There was a few 50% yesterday so maybe a good deal comes for cyber monday like the 5.5 lbs bags of Impact 2 for $80 earlier last week.

MYP UK were doing a solid (pre-Black) Friday deal there; 5kg bag of whey for £50 or the diet version for £58.

Went with the latter as I like the added fibre content.

Let's see what this weekend brings!

Thanks, just placed an order for whey isolate - £53 for 2.5kg with the BLACK discount code, paid ~£76 for that a month or so ago.

Nice one,

but!

Did you see last night's offer i.e. 5kg for £55?

I may have made another whey investment...

Was that the Impact version (more expensive but more pure) or the regular stuff? I've only been using the Impact version as of late as I was concerned the regular stuff was making me very bloated.

I always buy the 'Impact' stuff too, which was what was heavily discounted, though admittedly I'm happy purchasing whey concentrate rather than isolate. Fortunately everything's been agreeable with me digestion-wise.
