One might think, but there’s a reason why one can’t find a bodybuilder who squats low bar.
I have to admit don't know much about that. I thought most of them used machines these days?

Machines definitely are very popular currently, but high bar squatting traditionally was the way. Tom Platz regularly slagged what he called a “powerlifting squat.”

Even some powerlifters themselves have gotten in on it. Dan Green wrote a piece for Juggernaut back in the day talking about how his powerlfting squat was stuck, and the significant progress he made after noticing that the guys beating him all had massive quads. Subsequently he started posting videos of high bar squats.

Yeah, Tom Platz and Dan Green know much, much more about this than I do, that's for sure.

For myself, I think I'll stay with low bar for now. Maybe I'll try some high bar again in the future, if I feel like it?

I think everyone should do whichever version feels best for them, and play with the other if / when they want the other’s particular benefits. I might play with low bar again when my current run ends. I’ve also been interested for a long time in working with the SSB. It’s just a real chore to set up in the gym.

Squat:
20 kg x 5 x 5
50 x 3 x 2
70 x 3 x 2
90 x 3
100 x 2
110 x 2
120 kg x 1r x 6s
2 - 3 minutes rest.
Nothing much to say about this.

Front squat:
20 kg x 5r
Decided to try again.
No cramping up this time,
so that's an improvement.

Bench:
20 kg x 10
50 x 3 x 2
60 x 3
70 x 3
75 x 3
80 x 2
85 x 1
90 kg x 1r x 3s
80 kg x 4r
2 - 3 minutes rest.
I'm trying a slightly wider grip,
middle fingers on the rings.
This was all right.

Deads:
50 kg x 5
70 x 3
90 x 3
110 x 3
130 x 2
140 x 2
150 x 1
160 x 1
170 kg x 1r
155 kg x 2r
2 - 3 minutes rest.
BW this morning was 85.2 kg,
so I'm getting kind of close to a 2 times BW deadlift.
I was tempted to load another 5 kg on the bar,
but patience is good I've heard.
Another day.

That’s great - looking forward to seeing you knock that down.

Thanks! I know I will get there eventually, so I can afford to be patient. Or have patience? One or the other.
