IPF Worlds 2026

The 59's just finished. Antoine got 3rd. He missed a WR chip on the Squat - shockingly - he has 250 on a good day IMO. The American Slabic pulled 300, and passed out with 305 locked. He would have tied on total and won on BW if he had stayed awake long enough to not drop it. Antoine plays it too safe most of the time, I don't think he believes in what he can actually hit. He's been in WR territory in training every week since Europe's from what I've seen. I hope being at Silent Worker levels him up.

Well congrats to him! Bronze at a world level is an excellent achievement.

I am looking forward to watching this years Worlds. There should be quite a few world records broken this year, and some weight classes should be very competitive. The -120kg class especially.

Speaking of Worlds, I applied for the Canadian Masters Worlds team. I know, I said I was done... Anyways because I didn't go to Canadian Nationals in 2026 they put me on the reserve list, in last place LOL.

Now, the requirement for joining the 2026 Worlds team is participating/winning in either 2025 or 2026. I attended 2025 and won, an then went on to win Worlds setting an IPF world record for total for my age and weight. You think I'd be a shoe-in for 2026 having won Worlds only 7 months ago.

In my place they have a couple of National second place finishers (who have no chance of winning or even placing going by their results) since all weight classes aren't represented, including mine since the guy who won M3 105kg Nationals didn't want to go to Worlds in Reno because TDS.

Anyways, I sent an email to the federation wondering what the criteria for making the team was and why I wasn't considered. I got crickets. I know they excluded me because I didn't go to this year's Nationals. They'd rather have participants than someone who could potentially win again. It's the Canadian way!

Sounds pretty damn Canadian. Why follow the rules and maybe win if you can make it complicated and ensure a crappy result?
