This is so awesome. Can't wait to start putting more data in and seeing how this all translates to e1RM.. I think in some strange way this will actually motivate me to train harder. Lol.Manveer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 03, 2018 4:03 am Oh man. I am excite:

My OpenBarbell is coming back from S&S after a repair right now.
Although it’s estimating my squat e1RM at 301kg with 92% r^2... yeah I dunno about that.

Re: OpenBarbell v3 on sale again
To a large extent, that's the goal of these things: being able to get enough accumulated data to make accurate extrapolations. Not just 1RMs though. Things like whether you're responding to a certain type of training, session-to-session fatigue, and anything else along those lines.
That's another goal/use, and it's not strange at all. Having a mark to beat helps maintain focus. We all seem to agree that the concentric portion of a movement should be done with full intent, as fast as you can. But how many people actually do that on a routine basis? I know I'd gotten away from that at some point, but when I hooked up the OpenBarbell, I instantly tried to beat each previous rep's speed.

I happened upon a blog geeking out over VBT and powerlifting.
Anyone who's read it have opinions?

I know it definitely got me thinking more on the concentric.. "go fast!" It's been really cool to use and see the data.SeanHerbison wrote: ↑Sat Mar 03, 2018 7:21 pm That's another goal/use, and it's not strange at all. Having a mark to beat helps maintain focus. Question for OpenBarbell owners:
Do you log/track every set including warmups? If tracking every set, do you put RPE for the easy sets/warmups? In that recent S&S e1RM article, It states for the data to be most accurate, to log every RPE, from bar warmup to workset. I have been leaving the lower sets blank for RPE, but I guess I'll start putting 1.0-5.0? It just seems a bit like a guessing game to put anything under 6.0, at least, in my prior use of RPE.

Usually I don’t even hook it up until maybe my third warmup.thejosef wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 3:27 amI know it definitely got me thinking more on the concentric.. "go fast!" Re: OpenBarbell v3 on sale again
Ah, cool. I just tried inputting RPE for warmup sets and if you put anything like 1.0 or 2.0 it just says <5.5 RPE, which is neat. So, I really don't have to try to figure out lower RPEs, which is pointless anyway.Manveer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 4:53 amUsually I don’t even hook it up until maybe my third warmup.thejosef wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 3:27 amI know it definitely got me thinking more on the concentric.. Now the only feature I really need is some way to export my OpenBarbell data into a neat, easy to read, format that I can copy/paste to my log. (ie. 295 x 3 @ 8.0 .42 m/s)

The problem is you need the speed for each rep. It’s a pain in the ass. I just reference the OpenBarbell exported spreadsheet if necessary.

Re: OpenBarbell v3 on sale again
True. True. I'm definitely still a noob at using this device, so I've mainly been looking at average velocity of each set. Though I can definitely see how looking at each rep's speed can be important also. Man.. so much cool data.. so little time to digest it all..

Did you adjust the speed of the predicted 1rm? I got something weirdly high until I changed the speed to what my 1rms usually are.Manveer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 03, 2018 4:03 am Oh man. I am excite:

Yes. Probably using too wide a time window for the data though since I don’t have anything recent.
