Aces and eights
Greetings.
I am male going on 61 this year. Have lifted weights since my teens. Competed in Body Building in my 20's and managed a 600lb squat and deadlift and a 425lb bench press. In my early 50's I managed both a 500lb squat and deadlift, but can no longer bench due to a bad shoulder. Currently loosing some weight and have lost approx. 20lbs, down to 260lb. I retired from construction this past year and work out for an hour every other day. Currently doing one lift a day to try to fend off father time, but its tough having to use weights you used to use as a warmup for your top set. I am not much for logging, but I am going to try it to see how it goes.
Saturday
Deadlift
Worked up to a triple with 350lbs and a backoff set of 5 with 300.
Some leg raises.

Welcome to the forum! Do you have any pictures of your competitive days on stage? Were you pro? Would be cool to hear some stories about that era!

Cody,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I was never a pro. I competed in a couple amateur shows in the early 80's. I have a couple of crappy photos taken with a polaroid from one show. The other show my ex-girlfriend from the time had the photos and didnt pass them along when we split.
I have met with a fair number of pro's and trained with some for a period of time. The internet was not a gleam in Al Gores eye back then. The best thing was training at a good gym (which were few and far between, and I had to travel 30 miles each way 6 days a week). People that trained together had a camraderie and helped each other. There were some real characters that would tease each other in good fun, nothing malicious. It was good times. Programs were simple, not the complexity you see now, but by the same token todays trainees are far more advanced at an early stage because the learning curve is that much faster. Having seen both, I prefer the old ways, but I am a dinosaur.

Sure lots more fun gaining weight and strength than the other way around. Cest la vie.
