Re: Martha Rogers Thread
Hell of a session. @mbasic didn't realize the Asian and European totals were that low! Too bad they both need to bump up to 76 for Tokyo. I didn't see the Asian Championship results for 76 though, but Kate doing better than the Europeans winner is awesome and bodes well for Tokyo.
ETA: looks like W76 Asians just finished up (started about 90 minutes ago?)

Re: Martha Rogers Thread
The U.S. is killing it at Pan Ams. Alyssa Richie, CJ and Kate Nye sweeped gold.
Too bad about Mattie coming in silver, she really pushed it, and apparently had food poisoning. It's popular to shit on Mattie and love Kate on social media. Kate seems to showboat a bit too much, not a big fan of the self celebration on the platform. Even if it was huge, especially that 110 snatch, Ho Lee Fuk.

I was wondering to myself "If I were Pyrros Dimas, would I consider holding Mattie's hair whilst she puked a bigger highlight in my life than all my Gold Medals???"
I am still wondering btw...

I'd have to dig into it myself, I've had little time to watch this .... but I think (heard) a lot of other countries didn't submit their all-out-best-teams.MPhelps wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:16 am The U.S. is killing it at Pan Ams. Alyssa Richie, CJ and Kate Nye sweeped gold.

I agree with what you said about the platform antics thing....but whatcha gonna do? Hopefully she'll grow out of it.
Go to Guatemala and get food poisoning? big surprise. i think that's happened before with a few athletes when the panams are held in the 'south'.
Kinda call bullshit on that to. Like when Jordan had the flu in the 97 playoffs and scored 40.
That was the best clean of her whole fucking life (even though big step forward). IIRC 135-137 has been be pinning her of late.
She seemed fine.

Re: Martha Rogers Thread
Good point. Usually Colombia mops the floor with us. Kate is young, and hopefully she'll grow out of it. Mattie does like to make excuses. The fact that she cleaned 140 out of nowhere and got the jerk overhead even is impressive.mbasic wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:40 amI'd have to dig into it myself, I've had little time to watch this .... but I think (heard) a lot of other countries didn't submit their all-out-best-teams.MPhelps wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:16 am The U.S. is killing it at Pan Ams. Re: Martha Rogers Thread
I didnt see the videos of mattie's lifts right away, but read about the 140 attempt...
....thought FOR SURE, she just did the token-get-on-stage-and-did-the-high-pull-thing.
Had to really eat my hat when I finally saw the video.
If she would've stuck that jerk .... oh man!

Re: Martha Rogers Thread
I wouldn't say Kate's reactions to hitting a a new record in a big event were over the top, especially in such a close session.

Shit, I'm just reminded that 71 isn't even an Olympics weight class. A lot of unknowns for these two.

#teamkate, I guess. Being in the same area may have something to do with that, Mattie is great too though.

There is a saying in Cricket, "Beware of the sick batsman" My best score ever was when I was horribly sick and it was also 42 C (something like 110 Farhenheit)
There are many, many instances of athletes performing exceptionally well when sick. I believe that sometimes when you feel like absolute crap you don't let your head get in the way, no overthinking, no trying to anticipate, just pure reaction relying solely on skill/ability/prior training.

Re: Martha Rogers Thread
Yeah, I'm not dying either one had something wrong, but it obvs didn't effect performance....so.......why mention it. I've had this happen too on a lesser scale of course. Where I was surprised I had a good day In The gym while sick... usually this happens towards the end of the "sickness cycle".Ragholmes wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 9:34 amThere is a saying in Cricket, "Beware of the sick batsman" My best score ever was when I was horribly sick and it was also 42 C (something like 110 Farhenheit)
