You reminded me of this article I read once about a guy cheating at marathons.

Pretty good, but long, read.
I read the first bit.... but did you hear about that master's runner guy who was a doctor?
...been caught cheating
....chip times made no sense
.....was told to run with an escort because of his suspect times, and then skated around that request somehow
.......then was called out again, made the internetz, and maybe committed suicide because of the negative attention.

People. Are. Weird.

Wow. That was a long read unlike the New Yorkers typical short clickbait. Pretty much the same thing. What would you be gaining by cheating? It really makes you wonder why it's even worth it to enter races or meets. Sort of like, I'm entering to have fun, but also maybe to win, but if this other guy is cheating and winning what's the point? Is it fun to never come close to winning because this douchebag is cutting the course or on drugs or possibly both?

If you carry out that line of thinking to it's conclusion you wouldn't bother to do much, surely?

Well I can still do a lot, just not compete, which at age 44 is more or less an exercise in self aggrandizement. As in who the fuck cares about Masters comps except other Masters. I will still possibly enter local ski races just for the hell of it.

...well, what was "said" was she was at a training camp there in Oregon a while back.
Probably yeah feeling it out or whatever to see if she wanted to switch.

To be clear: Greg and Danny are buds.
Oly-Concepts is a Catalyst Affiliate Gym or whatever.
https://www.catalystathletics.com/affiliate-gyms/

But yeah that first IG post back from Oregon at OC in Florida (only Aug 27th though)....
(Clean pull halting at extension x 3) + (Clean from hang x 1) ....that's a Greg/C.A. thing for sure (positional complexes).

Weightlifting House is doing IG Live with Sean Waxman, and there's some talk about it right now, can't quite make out what they're saying though.

Well, the obvious solution is to cheat better.

I wonder if Mattie, Danny and Aimee just decided that Mattie needs a fresh perspective, maybe even a female coach. That's my non-reddit non-mudslinging opinion on the matter. I've been to Sisters, OR. It's not the kind of place you want to leave. I couldn't even imagine having to go back to FL after that.

Depends on the person.
Some people need noise, traffic, attention from other humans, etc...

I myself have not been there. Pictures/posts of the place seem awesome.
Looking at a map there appears to be a wall of mountains between there and Portland
so a plus there for sure.

Yes. It's east of the cascades. Of course knowing from experience, the mountains have enough tourists to clog the roads and every inch of town to the point where it's no different from a big city. Which is ok if you're the tourist, not so much if you choose to live there.

I live nearby. I can attest to this. Unfortunately Sisters has more people (aka tourists - everyday, summer or winter) per capita than Portland. It's a tiny one-road town (pop. 2000) that's crawling with valley folk. Always.

Central Oregon is wonderful country, though. Always sunny, but I'm certain their diurnal temperature range breaks records. Also, hot summers, snowy winters, etc.

I wonder where this gym Is?

Having watched a few videos I'd have thought there were enough local landmarks visible to find it but IDK...lovely looking set up they have there.

I'm not sure if they're in Sisters, but you can see a lot of photos of the Sisters Mountains and Mount Washington on their Instagram stories. I'm sort of interested in going there since I hear they have snow at Mount Bachellor well into late spring. I was there in the summer as part of a fire crew so I didn't have anytime to explore.

I believe it was Mike Tuchscherer who had the C O U R A G E to ask why someone would want a coach who wasn't any good at the sport/hobby in question themselves.

I'd agree, though I think Kate is so far ahead at this point it'll be no contest. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, i hope their selections are based on what the overall field is doing and it doesn't turn into some kind of dick measuring contest and the both bomb out or something-something.

Its kind worked out that that 71 division is kinda weak not super strong.

The 76 is packed with studs, which will be an Olympic class.
