PULL

Chins BW+85x5x5

Landmine Row 140x3x12

Shrug 275x3x16

Superset x4:
EZ Curl 108x10
French Press 108x10

Musings: My new job schedule started this week, and I've gotten up 30 minutes early all 2 days so far to take a 35# weighted walk for conditioning/health/calories. At the end of this morning's session, I checked my pulse and it was less than 100bpm. I don't think that's enough to count as cardio.

I didn't trust myself to actually get up early and hit the Titan Bike, which is why I chose the weighted walks; at least I'd actually do them. But after getting up early a couple days in a row, maybe I do have what it takes to get some proper cardio done in the morning. Hopefully it's not too loud for the sleeping house.

LEGS

I need to get some semi accurate e1RM's for my next training block. Since I've only done high rep stuff for a couple months, I figured I'd shoot for a 5RM-ish and call it 85%-ish.

SSB Squat 315x10@8?
So..... I was expecting 315 to be a 5RM. I took a few quick breaths between most reps, but nothing too crazy.
e1RM=415?

Low Bar Squat 365x4@9
That's more within the ballpark of expectancy. But weirdly close to my ssb squat. TO BE FAAAAIIIIR... I haven't low bar squatted in ages, so maybe there's some ssb skill and lack of low bar skill coming into play.
e1RM=410

Deadlift
lol I'd rather do a deadlift 1RM than 5RM...
A couple weeks ago I hit that no warmup, no belt, 487.5x1@10, so today I jumped from 475 to 5hundo but it wouldn't leave the ground.
475x1 for posterity:

Musings: I haven't uploaded to youtube in a while. Apparently videos under a certain time limit are automatically made into "shorts" which I guess is a pathetic attempt to be more like TikTok. Hopefully they work here?

Whatever version of the internet we're calling this; I hate it, and now I'm all old-man-yells-at-cloud riled up... I also hate that my only hope for a non-astroturf opinion of anything is include "reddit" in my search terms. And even then it's probably sus. I also hate that I just typed "sus."

Yeah, I can see them on mobile and desktop.

I must be a grumpier old man than you because I don't know what "non-astroturf opinion" means; I think I know what "sus" means--it's an abbreviation for suspicious, isn't it? That was from some goofy cartoonish game the youths played last year or the year before, right?

Also, in before anyone tells me what they are: No, I don't need to know.

It is my understanding that "astroturfing" is the practice of corporate/sponsored advertising under the guise of authentic consumer ratings, comments, and blogs.

Like how you used to be able google "best hammer drill 2010" and get a blog post from an actual tool guy who seemed like a real person and is just really into tools, and the comments section would be half a dozen regulars having minor disagreements about why the #3 hammer drill should actually be the #2 hammer drill.

Now what comes up is sites like "besttoolreviews.com" and it's basically an ad for Amazon with no nuance or experiential knowledge. Unless you search "best hammer drill 2022 reddit," in which case you can still find a dozen regulars having minor disagreements about why the #3 hammer drill should actually be the #2 hammer drill. But you secretly suspect it's still astroturf because you're so jaded and paranoid.

Bodyweight 190.0#
In 3 weeks I've lost 4 pounds, which is great. But the first 3 pounds came from week 1. We'll see what week 4 brings, and whether or not I try to keep a cutting momentum going or literally count my losses and switch to maintenance while rebuilding strength.

PUSH

Bench 295x7@10, 3x3 for some volume
e1RM = 355

Again, this makes sense after not lifting heavy for so long, even though I think my chest and tri's have gotten juicier. Hopefully this number will increase pretty quickly (before abruptly stalling out way below my previous max)

Incline DB Bench 60x3x18

Upright Row 130x4x10

LTE 108x4x12

Musings: I'm waiting for the surgeon to call with my wife's status post elective cosmetic surgery. We are extremely frugal people, but are both fitness/body modification fanatics, and after researching for a couple years, we saved up the dollars for the ultimate Xmas present. She has worked super hard in recovering her body from 2 sets of twins, and certain aspects were actually just fine when she was fatter, but now that she's lean and mean it's a comical mess. I'm really excited for her. (it should be noted that she's like me and despite not being a "sharer," doesn't care if people know stuff and is fine with me sharing these kinds of details)

But I will basically be a single dad for a few weeks and I'm not looking forward to that.

Mother in law dropped the kids off yesterday, and left us with a letter about the whole atheism thing. It was very... emotionally charged, despite the narration of a long and meticulous editing. I really didn't expect them to react this harshly. It's especially tricky for my wife and I because neither of us play emotional games, like, ever. If one of us does something that hurts or bothers the other, we address it in an honest way and move forward. So we have no idea how to respond to what feels like an emotional outburst meant more to cause pain than maintain/repair a relationship.

Also, due to wife having surgery, our neighbors brought us lasagna and garlic bread last night. It was really good, but felt like a weird thing to finally "waste a day" of cutting over. I'm probably a little stressed from the surgery, and definitely very stressed about the in-laws, both of which likely contributed to me eating 1/3 of the pan of lasagna and half the loaf of garlic bread. And there's still leftovers... For your stress eating.

You have awesome neighbors.

All mine ever brings is a lot of noise pollution and the noxious fumes of dogshit and a poorly-maintained project car.

Yeah we have it pretty nice. They’re a few houses down, but they have kids the same age as ours, so the whole herd of children play together.

There are even occasional driveway campfires and game nights.

Preworkout Musings: I've rearranged my lifting schedule so each week will have 4 workouts; 2 upper body and 2 lower. There might be times where it takes 2 days to complete a given workout, but I'll still be able do all prescribed work every week. I'm hoping to split as few as possible, which might even allow for an extra bench session. For your priorities.

UPPER (continued)

Supersetted x4:
Seated DB Curl 40x8
French Press 88x14
BW Calf Raise x25
-total time: 17:30

Postworkout: Just before starting that superset I channeled by inner @JFick and was a minor asshole to the salesman ringing my doorbell. Aggressive unlock and door open, "no thank you" in a harsh tone with accompanying door slam and lock.

If my family was starving and door to door sales was my only option, I would do it and take the abuse. But I believe it to be the lowest form of actual work (CEO's and other administrators do not count as actual work, obviously). My house is my safe space and guests that annoy me will be treated cruelly and without mercy. For your Laveyan Satanism.

A few days ago, I had our front door open with the storm/screen door shut. The kids are watching tv in the living room, and I'm in the kitchen. We all hear someone knocking on the storm door, so we all go see who it is. A couple of little old ladies are standing there. My son gets there first and starts to open the door to talk to them. One says, "Don't open the door!"

I'm like, "Dafuq? Why you knockin' then?"

"We'd like to share some scripture with you..."

"No, thank you." Closes front door.

I'm starting to think I need to log my bike time like this. The distances being 1 sig fig just suck, but work is work.
Are your speeds peak or the average?
