 I thought I remembered talk of it being close recently, and then I hadn't seen anything about it since. Maybe it was BW press I was thinking of? I didn't think you were over 170 but I have also learned to just never even try guessing.

I'll be in a hole if anyone needs me

Thanks Heidi!!

HAHAHAHAHA I've gotten worse! When my ex boyfriend saw me weigh in at a deadlift competition, he said "huh, I thought you weighed more." Needless to say he didn't usually think before he spoke.

Phew, so I'm not *too* crazy. That's a big milestone though, congrats!! Maybe you were too busy being recognized from your film career to point it out for us?

Rower
12 min
101 kcal burned

Shit yo...My shoulders are finally rebelling... I went back to the gym to do volume presses and it just wasn’t happening. It’s like my shoulders just turned off.

Tried to do sprints on the rower but was too tired. Just did some steady state.

Pause Sticking Point Squat
1x3 45, 105, 147, 175
5x3 195

Press
1x5 45
2x3 80
5x3 95
1x1 105, 115, 125
2x5 85

Overhand Lat Pulldown
1x10 70, 90
4x10 110

Close Grip Bench
1x8 45
1x6 75
1x4 95
4x8 117.5

My shoulders continue to feel like they've tapped out for the press. The weight isn't heavy, I don't need extra rest, but I have no explosive power at all. They're just moving in slow motion. No other lift is affected except overhead press.

Anyone else experience this????

Really wondering if it's the change in footwear that's causing it. I guess I'll experiment next time.

I'm using this as an opportunity to experiment with a slightly wider grip anyway. Feels weird, but helps keep the bar close and eliminate layback.

You’ve got residual fatigue and likely some inflammation in those shoulders. A quick taper will remedy that.

What would a quick taper look like?

Basically a linear drop in total pressing volume for about a week.

ETA: write out next weeks press Rx and then I can show you how to turn that into a taper.

probably undertrained... /s

Though after that taper possibly upping volume a bit and doing a little less intensity might help.

The bench gainzzz keep coming. Also cosigned on upping volume with lower average intensity after the taper.

8/20 Bench and Deadlift PR

#338

Post by MF1000 » Mon Aug 20, 2018 1:41 pm

Front Squat
1x6 45
1x3 95
1x3 135
5x4 155

Bench
1x5 45
1x95
1x2 125
1x1 150
1x1 172.5 PR
5x5 145

Deadlift
1x5 135
1x3 215
1x2 265
1x1 305
1x1 335 PR
2x5 250

Last week was crazy.

Burned out my shoulders, tweaked my back while doing squats with my niece, recovered quickly from the back tweak but then re-aggravated an ulcer probably by taking too much ibuprofen, and got a job at Tesla.

My next career move was going to be getting the Starting Strength certification, but after everything that went down I had a moral dilemma, and I'll need health insurance soon, and I'm tired of caring about people's fitness more than they care about it themselves, and having my livelihood depend on unreliable people.

So I'll be coaching part time now and selling Teslas full time!!

Anyone thinking of selling their car and becoming awesome, let me know :-)

Didn't lift for 4 days cuz the ulcer had me weak and not eating. Figured I'd try to pick up where I left off and see what happens. Workout went better than expected.

Front squats went pretty much as planned, just skipped doing a single.

As you can see, I asked my spotter if he can call the commands, he nodded yes, and then proceeded to say nothing.

Deadlift single was slow and ugly, but it's a PR!

Shoulders still hurt so didn’t press. Was a bit hung over and decided I powered through enough so skipped some deadlift sets.

Second set of front squats, bench single, ugly ass deadlift single videoed below.

I found this note on my car when I left the gym. I expected to find a number inside but it was just exercises. I don't even know what half of those are. If shy guy was trying to leave clues his plan failed :-(

this is my favorite new log

lol#1, the spotter and the "commands" thing...either:

A - Had no fucking idea what you were saying; knows nothing about powerlifting at all.
But if some semi-jacked good looking chick asks you if you know how to do something,
by God you say "YES!" no matter what the fuck you do in fact know.
"commands"? Imagine how that sounds from the total laymen's point of view? Some kind of dominatrix thing.
lolololol

B - did know what you were saying, and was totally mesmerized as that moment.

Seriously, that probably bumped a full RPE point up....waiting for a press command that never comes.

lol#2, car note.
Its creepy he knows which car is yours.
Its prolly some borderline autistic kid (harmless).
Or not, keep your pepper spray safety off when you walk thru the parking lot . . .
lololololol
