Yes a footnote to my last post. I've got the orange ones which is actually a two tone. One is orange, the other is almost pink. If I had known that, I might have bought the white with light blue instead. I despise white shoes though, but the orange pink is that bad.

LOW HEEL DL/WL SHOE?
I was explaining this to someone, again: You can lower the Adidas PowerLifts pretty easily to make a low heeled shoe for lifting weights (DL).
.... and thought to post it here if someone finds it useful.
Even the newer PowerLift's have similar sole construction that should allow this mod.
I had a cobbler do a similar thing to mine, but I raised them .....same thing though, they peeled the bottom-sole about 2/3 of the way off ...then did the modification to the HDfoam material ....and glued it back together. Cost about $35 IIRC about 3-4 years ago.
I think Cody did this with another brand.
Powerlifts seem to be the only brand where the sole is so simply constructed you could still do this.
They are cheap too, so its not like you are hacking up a $200 shoe.
Pictures are worth a hundred words. Godd pictures are worth a thousand.
Jordan had this done.... I found an old SS post of him selling them.
--------------------------------
And the funny part in all this (sad really),
look what those guys aholes at SS did to Will D's user name.

ROM 4's
Interesting strap design, actually loops freely underneath your foot/arch.Wilhelm wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 7:37 amLooks like they are throwing back towards the 2s.BostonRugger wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 7:22 am Looks like Nike dropped the new Romaleos

Re: Shoes!?!
I know. The Rom3 were junk. I don't think the 3XD's were much better.
I lol'd when he threw the 3's out of frame ( I didn't ahve the subs on).
I JUST bought the new Hookgrip Anta's yesterday .... like 20 hours ago.
The ROM 4's look great.....and appear to be pretty close to the old 2's.

Re: LOW HEEL DL/WL SHOE?
Lulz. I own this exact pair of shoes - have been using them for 5(?) years. I have a brand new pair in the closet that I need to get the heel removed from.mbasic wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 4:10 pm I was explaining this to someone, again: You can lower the Adidas PowerLifts pretty easily to make a low heeled shoe for lifting weights (DL).

Re: Shoes thread !?!!
I seem to have problems with heels leaving the ground when squatting and it seems to be coming from the ankle. If I were to try squatting in Chucks, would I want low top or high? I also tend to suffer a bit of knee wobble on the ascent...
I would have assumed high, for more rigidity, but honestly have no idea...

I got the Hookgrip one's, black shoes with grey trim.
I figured he(Nat) makes a cut on them and whatever I can do to support. I ain't doing that patreon shit.
I hate to say this, but I also bought two identical pairs.
I will mothball one.

Anyone ever try the Adidas Crazy Power RK? Seems to have been short lived but described as PowerLift height with AdiPower heel material.
I just ordered some AdiPowers to try since they were under a hundred bucks, but if I don’t like the height I’m curious what experience people had with these:

Not the only color, and you should see the AdiPowers I ordered: salmon and black.
My wife (primary on our Amazon account) saw the offer come through and asked that I promise not to wear them to the gym when it reopens.
Last I checked though ugliness was still a requirement for lifters...

Got the AdiPowers today. Arrived three hours after I finished lifting so won’t be able to actually test till Wednesday but I think I’ll be a fan. First, they are snugger in the heel than the PLs they’ll be replacing and the show just seems to fit my foot better. Second, I could do an air squat in then without my hell leaving the floor. If I’m barefoot I can’t do that. Looking forward to actually testing.

How much difference do low heels make? I go to the gym and throw in my shoes (Romaleos 2) and just do everything in them. I've thought about deadlifting in bare feet or picking up slippers, but I'm honestly kind of lazy and doubt I'd change footwear midsession even if I had options. Maybe low heels is the answer, but I do like my Remaleos. I don't compete, but I do enjoy PR's.

Fwiw (not much) i use my Nano 7s with the insole removed.
Shoe is just about half an inch thick that way.
Close enough to flat for me.
I like the shoes, and i have them.

Re: Shoes thread !?!!
Well, assuming you deadlift last, just get a flat shoe (like what @Wilhelm mentioned, or something else), wear it to/from the gym, and put it back on right before DL. Now you're doing the same number of shoe changes, but earlier.ryanc wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:50 pm How much difference do low heels make? Re: Shoes!?!
Are these better than Romaleos 2? How do they compare?
Just got a pair of Romaleos 2 after 5 years of using Adipower 1's. Brand-new Rom 2's are not nearly as comfortable to me, have a stiffer forefoot, and a bit more lateral stability. We'll see how they break in. Not really understanding the hype on these shoes other than their durability. Definitely more heel slippage than the Adipower due to the Rom's larger heel cup and stiffer sole.
