Returning Rusty

BP:

275x1@6?
315x1@8?
275x2@7.5?, 8?
225x4@7?, 6.5?

Notes:

Two weeks off for recovery from poison ivy and allergic reaction to the antibiotic ointment doesn’t help with gains. I’m pretty sure that if I could’ve lifted last Monday I’d have been fine, but today I had no idea how things felt. I felt strong overall, but everything felt heavy. I’ll probably run one lift a day for a while due to schedule restraints.

Weak and Fat

SDL:

315x3@7, 8, 7 (+belt)

Notes:

Need to drop back to 275 and work on fives. Form has degraded. Not terrible, but not what it was.

Things Will Be Okay

OHP:

225x2@8, 8.5, 9
155x10@6.5, 7.5, 9

Notes:

I’m terribly out of shape for higher rep work. I used Andy’s Rx tonight for fun. Was happy with the doubles at 225 even if I did run the RPE meter a bit high. The last set of ten was exhausting.

I mis-grooved the first rep of the second set at 225. That spiked the meter a bit but the second rep was easy enough. Form degraded faster than strength.

Not bad.

First time I tried 8s for my bastardized dup, I thought I was gonna die. Tonight I warmed up with 5 minutes in the bike and my legs were way too worn out after. It gets better, though. As usual, your ability to recover bad reps on the press im...presses.

That pressing session looked just fine to me.

Or normal. Those volume sets after the main sets always makes my arms fall off.

Was supposed to squat last night and didn't. Basically could care less right now. 'Twas a long day. Maybe I'll do something tonight? Some BS after school activity is an impediment. Kids kill gains.

Winning the Hyper Trophy

OHP:

165x8@ 7, 7.5, 7.5
135x10@ 8.5, 7, 8

CGBP:

185x8@ 7
175x10@ 7.5
165x12@ 6
155x12@ 6, 7

Notes:

I was going to try to lift last week while on travel, but decided I didn’t care. Came back decently strong today with no aches or pains (in the areas being worked).

One thing that is also okay with taking extended breaks is the ability to break bad habits. Today I worked on touching the bar lightly on CGBP. I’d been letting the bar sink in too much recently. Was really easy to get that right.

I’m sure, after 100+ pressing movement reps, that I’ll be sore tomorrow.

Where are you going to mount your new Hyper Trophy? Make sure it's in plain view for casual conversation when the neighbors or babysitter come over.

I've never had a babysitter. Not as a child nor as a parent. Interpret that as you will.

I updated my cardio area on Wednesday. I "used" it for 10 minutes on Thursday while watching "The Good Place" on Netflix.

I was way too sore afterwards (rowing). I need to get my shit together.

Freaky Friday

BP:

255x5@ 7, 6.5, 7
225x10@ 8, 8, 9

Notes:

Ran Andy’s Rx minus fluff tonight, since it’s the dog’s birthday

I’ll probably stick with Andy’s stuff again getting in the main volume. But I’m undershooting the weight a bit and keeping RPE reasonable. Even though 255 isn’t heavy, I was happy to look clean on those. Sets of 10 are ridiculous.

You're not supposed to speed up the recording though. ; )

Really nice.
