Training
Strength Squat
332.5x3x4
Strength Bench
180x3x4
Strength Deadlift
335x3x4
I've been doing everything double overhand lately. I had been doing hookgrip, but my thumbs had developed some gnarly callouses. I'm giving them a little break, and then I'll go at it again.
Food
Breakfast:
Protein Smoothie minus the berries
Coffee
So my wife bought us this fancy, expensive coffee maker recently after the one we had for years finally crapped out. It's a Breville grind and brew type. You put your beans in the hopper in the top, select your grind size and strength, put in the water, and turn it on. For the first few weeks it was great, and the coffee tasted great. But lately, I've been getting grinds in the coffee. I'm using a mesh basket instead of paper filters, and I'm cleaning the thing according to the directions. It's happened for 3 days in a row now, and it's starting to really irritate me. Somehow, the grinds are getting under the mesh basket in the filter holder part. I can only imagine the mess that would happen if I used paper filters. I'm going to give it a couple more chances, but there might be a sledgehammer in its future.
Snack:
2 Oatmega Protein bars
2 Belvita biscuit packets
Coffee with some grounds in it...
Lunch:
Chicken Sausage and Quinoa Salad
Dinner:
Chicken Sausage
Cabbage
Cheese ravioli with pesto
Snack:
PB&J
Strength Squat
332.5x3x4
Strength Bench
180x3x4
Strength Deadlift
335x3x4

Re: Thursday, 3-29-18
Try the paper filters. IMO the mesh filters are going to clog, and its just not possible to get them clean enough. Once they start to clog, the machine doesn't know to change the flow rate, so it keeps pushing the same amount of water into the basket but it's not draining fast enough so the water overflows, bringing some grounds with it.

Re: Thursday, 3-29-18
My wife recently threw away our mesh Chemex filter- it just made really crappy coffee. I had to grind it coarser, grind extra to make up for the flow rate, and since it was a "universal" filter, it was slightly too small for our Chemex pot so you had to just constantly add tiny amounts of water. But the Chemex paper filters are silly expensive.

We have one of those--the Chemex. I like using it when I can have a relaxing coffee experience. That's happens almost never nowadays.Allentown wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2018 6:46 am My wife recently threw away our mesh Chemex filter- it just made really crappy coffee. Re: alek's log of no gains
It was our primary method until we ran out of filters. Now we just make our own pour-overs. Half-assed, though, in that we just add water whenever we get a chance.

Training
Hypertrophy Squat
365x1 @8ish
292.5x5x4
292.5x4x5
These wore me the hell out today. Probably because it's like 80 degrees outside, and the gym was full of bro's this afternoon huffin' and puffin'. Sorry, Hanley...
Hypertrophy Bench
157.5x5x4
157.5x4x5
Hypertrophy Rows
120x5x8
I'll probably start doing the x5x4 and then x4x5 thing with these next week.
While warming up for squats, a bro comes over from the adjacent rack and takes one of the 45's off my rack. I tell him, "Hey man, I need all three of those. Go find one somewhere else." So he does--between him and the other dude sharing that rack, they bring back like four plates. They then proceed to not use all of them.
Food
Breakfast:
Protein shake
2 packets Belvita biscuits
Coffee
Lunch:
Tuna fish sandwich
Banana
Milk
Coffee
Snack:
Apple
Oatmega protein bar
Dinner:
Moe's burrito
Chips and salsa and guacamole

Christ you eat well, all sounds great, I'm so lazy I eat the same thing every day. I need either a wife or some initiative and neither are likely.

Re: alek's log of no gains
Thanks! Growing up, my mom was a really good cook, so I got used to eating good home-cooked food. I'm also the cook in our family--my wife can cook white fish better than I can, but that's about it. She makes up for it by breastfeeding the kids--well just the one now.
When I was single, I hated cooking for myself, so my diet was much less interesting then. It's also harder now to go out to nice(r) places with two kids under 3, so if I want something good, I've (mostly) got to make it myself. That works out pretty well though as I can make most things better than most restaurants. The secret is to "Focus on the Food" (TM). Well, that and YouTube...

My 2 year old is sick for the fourth time this year. Of those, three times have been when friends/family either brought their own sick kids to our house or allowed us to go to their house when their kids were sick without telling us. I can't believe I have to do this, but from now on, whenever we will visit family or friends, I'm going to ask, "Hey, are you or any of your family members currently or recently sick?"
Oh, and this is now on my front screen door:

Re: alek's log of no gains
Yeah. We had to put our 2 year old in daycare this year. She was sick from September to about February. Kid germs suck.
