Generally, the more a comic bitches about political correctness, the lazier and more outdated their jokes are. It's really just another form of getting mad at the audience for not laughing, something that pretty much means you should find another line of work.

I like your Taurus avatar, fishwife.
I do think Mel Brooks was provocative in his day. Further, I think his earlier works are relevant.
Louis CK says crazy shit, but in the context of being self critical. He's figured out how to use "bad words" in comedy and not be offensive.

I've recently seen Eddie Murphy's Raw pop up on Netflix. I recall loving it as an adolescent but I fear it has now become problematic and I don't want to ruin my memory of it so I haven't rewatched itmgil wrote: I do think Mel Brooks was provocative in his day. Re: Political Correctness
Being just slightly younger than you, I missed Raw as a kid. I tried watching it about a year ago, and Jesus Christ is it a total cringe fest. What the fuck were people on in the 80s? I get the kernel of a joke in a lot of the bits, but it's wrapped up in so much shock jock bullshit that it's honestly hard to sit through.simonrest wrote:

Re: Political Correctness
I guess I have to go watch (part of) Raw myself now.
Was it that Murphy was a big star at the time but no one had seen him work blue, so there was a lot of bad language just for shock value?
We didn't see a lot of profanity on TV in the 80s.

Allow me to make the joke funnier...
Looks a tiny bit like your avatar when viewed on a mobile device. I found it a funny Segway (pun) into the discussion as the bull symbol is somewhat antithetical to a uterus. A discussion about political correctness.
