Good lord, brevity is the soul of wit. Make your funny and move on. The first paragraph or two taking the piss out of Health Spas were actually kind of funny. Then it just went on and on and on and got less and less funny or witty and more and more up its own ass to the point that I was fixing to go in the Q&A and demand an explanation for this bullshit article. Then I realized there wasn't a thread pimping it, like with most articles, then I realized it wasn't an article. The fuck is a "training log" considered to be, and why is it a 15 year old edgelord's LiveJournal?

My guess is that "Training Log" is supposed to be for editorial or commentary type stuff, since there's actually nothing log-like about it.

Regardless, I honestly find it kind of embarrassing. I mean, we all know that this sort of attitude happens when people discover the joys of lifting, and it's even endearing and encouraging to see in those people. But for a SSC to be posting that... if this is how the method is trying to sell itself, I really won't be sending people to the site now. If the method is actually good (which I firmly believe it is, for the most part--certainly better and better explained than any other method for beginners in my opinion), it shouldn't need to support itself via its own verbal self-fluffing.

And yeah, I mean that in the pornographic sense.

Every article on the Starting Strength site is wayyy tooo longgg. I mean 4 pages, at least, about every topic. The Youtube videos are also way too long too. I clicked on that stupid barbell row video hoping for a laugh at the stupid technique. Nope, 24 minutes long. It takes Rip 8 minutes to say 100 words. Can't watch any of them. And the Art of Manliness stuff is way too hipster Christian for me. Ironic mustaches were funny in 1999.

The re-branding is going to be mainly for an older, more erudite, more discerning crowd that has lots of extra cash. It's going to appeal to those who think they're amazing just because they spent $200 on Romaleos and bought a Best Belt in their favorite color. The masses can ask for form checks graciously after they prove they have read The Book. After the form check has proved they need in person coaching, they can ask for another form check. Then they can speak a bit more freely on the forum after they've been to a seminar, drank bourbon on the approved list, and proved that they're a card carrying Libertarian. So $1200 later, 50-100 pounds on the squat later, they can hold their head low ('We Look Down") and sneer at the other gym goers who all do bosu ball curls and squat high bar. They might need some ART after excessively patting themselves on the back however.
