Pivotal Fitness is nice - i was at the one in Summerville, a suburb nw of charleston. they have a handful of locations including downtown i believe, drop-in fee was $10 i think a couple years ago. More importantly, eat at Hall’s Chop House and the Coast Bar if you’re downtown.

Any suggestions near Disneyland/Anaheim? There is a 24 hour fitness within walking distance of our hotel, and the pics online show at least one squat rack. We'll be there in late June and I don't want to take a week off from lifting.

PM me if you want to lift here. It’s not always staffed but it’s basically open 24 hours.

Re: Gyms for the travelling lifters...
Don't live there anymore but I grew up in the area.
Depends where you're staying, but the formerly small town of Summerville now appears to have 3 powerlifting-oriented gyms. There's one just called 'the gym' or something (edit: 'the bar' LOL amirite) that's not too far off of I-26 near exit 199, another called U-flex fitness that I've never been to, and my personal favorite Titus Strength & Fitness, which is a bit more out of the way. Smaller than the others, but comp racks and plates and you should have it almost all to yourself during the day at least.
I'm not sure what options are closer to the coast, but I'm sure there are some down there. I've heard of one called Big Work or something, but that might be more of a crossfit-type gym.

Seattle: Seattle bouldering project. Just off I 90 a couple of blocks north, and less than a quarter-mile east of I five. Primarily a bouldering and climbing gym, there are four racks, rogue barbells and bumper plates amd iron plates. Rowers, treadmills, climbing training too. I lift here and don’t climb .. but a drop-in could both lift weights and use some of the loaner climbing shoes and climb.

Atlanta (Decatur): Atlanta Barbell Gym. http://www.atlantabarbellgym.com. I dropped in there a couple of months ago and fell in love with the place. Bonus, if you're in Decatur and like beer, visit the Belgian Bar upstairs at the Brick Store Pub. It has the most amazing beer cellar list I've ever seen.

The gym I go to is in the middle of changing locations so things are a little clusterfucked.

What kind of lifter are you?JohnHelton wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 10:26 am @Hanley I will be vacationing with the family next week in Bozeman. Any suggestions regarding gyms?
If you just need a place for some barbells, platforms, and are pretty go-with-the-flow, chain places like Fuel would work.
The Ridge is expensive, but has everything.
There are a MILLION CrossFit places here, if you're one of those types.
Depending on time and what you're looking for, my gym may work.

Powerlifter. I just need to be able to squat, bench and deadlift heavy. Some places don't like people to deadlift.Testiclaw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 11:39 pmWhat kind of lifter are you?JohnHelton wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 10:26 am @Hanley I will be vacationing with the family next week in Bozeman. Re: Gyms for the travelling lifters...
Eugene, OR -- aka Tracktown, USA
University of Oregon Student Recreation Center - $10 drop in (for "community members")
Pros: If you can get your way in here, ($10 drop in for "community members" whatever that means), it's hands down the best equipped gym in the Tracktown area. Free weights, barbells, machines, rock wall, pool, etc. etc. You name it, they've got it.
Cons: Students.
Eastside Barbell - $20 drop in (call or email in advance)
Pros: Wonderful weightlifting gym. Tons of platforms, squat racks, barbells, kilo and pound bumper plates. Two power racks and a rig + safeties for PL stuff. Sleds, tire, ropes for climbing, etc. Kettlebells and dumbbells also, and two GHDs.
Cons: Not a lot of machines, no air conditioning. It is a weightlifting gym primarily, so there are no power bars or deadlift bars. However, they do have a lot of WLing stuff

I didn't see this in the thread yet, this could be a good tool to log all these places. Started by someone on the SS forums, kicked to repetitive inquires of course.
