Race to BW OHP
Who here doesn't have a BW press yet and wants one? Potential overlap with the 275 race if you're sitting near there!
Initial participants:
cgeorg
KarlM
chromoly
mbasic

Murelli
Didn't get in before the edit window closed? Who cares, join in!

I'm shooting to hit a BW press by the end of the year, as I'll be moving and that seems a great arbitrary deadline. Currently press e1RM ~160@187, recent best 175@205 on 4/17/17. So actually maybe relatively stronger now... weights after a cut are a mindfuck. Anyway, hoping to have press and BW converge in the low 190s.

Re: Race to BW OHP
I'm totally in. My best OHP is 175 lbs (almost got 180 but you know what they say about almost...). I'm at 193 lbs, and if I can keep the fat off, I should be able to get there in 4 months. Just need to gain press pounds faster than gut pounds.

Well fuck, there's already a race to my bw, and I'm nowhere near that number.

I'm already in the press race, scaled to smoll Nanette-sized weights. This overlaps with the BW press goal. I'm in.

Re: Race to BW OHP
I'm going to have to cruise by BW to get to 275 so I'm in here too.
The pisser is when I took 230 for a spin, i weighed 233(post lift weigh out) I was good for 235 or 240 that day. FUCK.

In.
I did this once at 215#, but since lost it, big time.
Just started focusing on the press last week.
See if I can get there again.
Current be @ 216. Est1rm 190?
I think it's gonna have to happen at 220 this time.
Real goal is(was always) 225 cuz merica.
I remember how slow the last 5-10 lbs were.
Not looking forward to that again

Re: Race to BW OHP
I want to be in this but I’d have to up my press or drop my body weight by 23kg.
Don’t think I’ll win the race somehow, but I might get there sometime before 2020.

Press to BW, that sounds so good. Depending on BW, of course. I'm in, but I'll never get there. Or maybe I will?

Re: Race to BW OHP
I'm in. Been chasing it for a while now. Progress is slow but I'm pretty close. 197.5 last week @ 204 BW (fluctuates 202-206).
I joined the ressurected Mere Mortals Race to 200lbs thread at the other place but it got whacked before I got my finishers medal.

Ha! Head is already practically shaved and I'm pretty regular in the a.m. before I lift. Wonder if fasting over the weekend would sap too much strengthKarlM wrote:Dude, you're so close! Take a crap, shave your head then press that weight!
I'm thinking 205 to call it BW. Going for 200 tomorrow but another 5lbs could take me another month+
Yep - not sure if because of inactivity or someone commented on press 3.0 in it.mbasic wrote:good job, you're right there!

Re: Race to BW OHP
Hoping the two will converge for me sometime in the not too distant future. I'm currently 240ish in BW, and my PR is 230, but strength has suffered on the cut and my current 1RM is definitely lower.

Ugh - so failed 200 yesterday. Close - just above my head. Kind of a messed up week with missing Monday. Next week.

Much disappoint how heavy this felt

Re: Race to BW OHP
I'm in. I'm 6'4" and a pretty skinny 210lbs, so I've got a ways to go. Current PR is 175x3, but I just recent switched to some higher volume programming for both OHP and Bench. Last workout was at 3x8 @ 8 for 140lbs. I'm probably sitting about 185lbs 1rm at the moment, so I've 25lbs to go.

Re: Race to BW OHP
My press went really well today, what gives? It's been really crappy recently, but today-- everything was coming up Milhouse! (Granted, it was only 77.5% of my 1RM for 5s across, but just a week ago or so, 5x70% was giving me trouble.)
