207.1/209.7 lowest I’ve weighed since June 7th

Outside-mill, no walksies
3 miles in 34:32
Not trying to run faster, just trying to finish without walking. Gonna for a little hike the youngest, and maybe get in those leg blasters.

That’s great work, especially considering that you accomplished it during winter bulking seazn.

For me winter bulking season is from Halloween until New Years, and again from when I start binge eating in April to cope with the fact that I’m terrible at my job* until realizing in mid-august that winter bulking season is probably over.

*there is the possibility that come mid-April, all teachers feel that they are failures and that I might be needlessly catastrophising.

As I read the bolded part, I literally was standing over a plate of brownies, having my second one of the morning, and thinking shit, why didn’t I get the New Year’s memo.

Bench continues to frustrate. Gonna keep it at 225x5, x2x4 and push the T2s and T3s and hope that works

Happy that my shoulder is feeling ok after Bench day.

Daughter had a big birthday party on Friday and we brought home several extra pizzas and half a cake. It’s pretty much all gone, mostly due to me. It’s ok, at least there’s no significant binge-eating related event tonight.

Just kidding, I have requests in for Steakums and sloppy Joe sandos, and I want chicken and waffles. Homemade chex mix and a charcuterie board. The girls are excited, despite the fact I don’t think they ever watched a full game before, and complain on the rare occasion when I put one on.

211.3/210.6

GGBB1.4.4

DL
406x6@9
Ties a rep or for that weight

I tried this workout twice last night and twice this morning.

Everything is going to shit, so I’m considering this a deload, and I’m starting the second cycle on Monday.
Moving the upper lower split to the old man 3x a week, so I’ll be benching every 9 or so days. I’ll probably also add a healthy dose of upper volume on lower days. Hopefully this helps recovery.

Going to see Scarcity and Sumac tonight. @DCR is jealous

I made the best bench progress that I’d made in years benching every eight days, albeit with very heavy DB benching on the fourth day in between. I probably should go back to that, seeing as how it wasn’t broken and I only switched based on an idea of pursuing weight loss, which I then didn’t do even a little bit.

It was great - they had to move the venue last minute. I missed the first act, which was a trumpet playing noise guy.
Scarcity’s new album stuff has these really delicate textures, which is not something I would expect in black metal. The singer, Doug from Pyrrhon, was super visually expressive, which combined with the fact that I couldn’t really hear what he was doing made for some delightful cognitive dissonance. I would love to hear them again in a non-metal club setting so I can hear the sonics of the dual microtonal guitars better.
SUMAC was fucking awesome, lots of droney loopy stuff, intercut with sludgey doom jams. I couldn’t hear the singer at all, as his low growl was in the same range as the guitar and the guitar was winning the volume battle. But their music seemed to be less about the layers of sounds and more about the sonic mass in general.

Apparently the fucking department of building shut down St Vitus the other night - in the middle of a show!!! - because the venue didn’t have clearly defined maximum capacity signs up. Word on the street is someone in the establishment is trying close Vitus for “reasons”.

Somehow, both times you directed me to Scarcity, I missed that Doug was involved. I really like the Scarcity record, but Pyrrhon always has been beyond my grasp. May try again. I definitely need to revisit Sumac; I recall enjoying them but see nothing in my Spotify library, which tells me that it’s been much longer than I thought since I’ve listened to anything.

How many data points do I need to see before I declare an upward trend?

Today

GGBB 2.1.4
I have come to fear the deadlift

DL
405x7@10ish.
405x2,3,3. First set I was too far over the bar and the first rep was a struggle

Superset with
Cambered Bench 130x7x10

RDL 275x10
I’m done.

I’m counting the last rep of this DL set, even though it was a very soft touch. Because 405x7 is a rep pr, and definitely because 405x6 + a super deep 405x1 RDL should also count as a pr.

Any thoughts about this set?

I would think stopping just shy of the floor is even more taxing than fully touching down. Your body is doing 100% of the work of stopping the bar and moving it in the opposite direction.

It counts.
