Big same. In addition to being sick and therefore generally annoyed with everything, my girl’s kids, who at best I tolerate, were absolutely awful all day. As usual, she didn’t help matters, reaping the results of having no control over them for years, and ultimately got thrown under the bus by them to her dipshit ex-husband, over which I had to offer comfort when what I really wanted to do was tear his head off and ream her for not better standing up for herself. I realize none of this makes sense without details but the important point is that it all resulted in me heading out into the southern Louisiana night for nearly every item on the Chinese takeout menu, plus a large frozen daiquiri because alcohol cures colds. Not shockingly, I look and feel fat as fuck today to go with what should be the last day of this cold. At least one of the two kids is back with the ex so I don’t have to listen to fucking incessant, screaming arguing all goddamn day.

Same, and this is my constant lament that I’m sure I’ve made here before. I desperately miss the time when I would actually sit down with a record, lyrics book open in front of me, and really listen with zero distractions, and then keep listening to that record for a few weeks to tease out all the little bells and whistles. Eventually having the financial means to buy many records at once ruined music for me, and the internet / Spotify continue to kick the corpse around. I’ve been thinking a lot about getting an actual record player when we move into our new place, and using vinyl as a means of starting over with a small collection, maybe acquire one record per month. If there are twenty new records that I want to hear, that’ll be too fucking bad. I’ll have to choose.

That was the path of many, maybe even most, of my favorites.

I still don’t care for Kill em All, unfortunately. When I think very early thrash, I can’t stop myself from reaching for Killing is My Business… and Business is Good.

I have a soft spot for Ride The Lightning for weirdly sentimental reasons, but Kill 'Em All never gets old for me.

I never listen to the bass solo song, but the whole album has a dumb-fun kind of energy that they seemed to leave to the wayside as they matured.

It's fun to lift to!
Was lifting with my wife, so I threw on Weezer's blue album, RHCP's Bloodsugarsexmagick and Nirvana unplugged in NY.
But for my bench top set I put on 30 seconds of Hammer Smashed Face...cuz reasons
That made me happier than anything else that’s occurred this weekend.

Hang in there man. Kids are hard. Teacher gurus say: be the thermostat, not the thermometer. Easier said than done. By a country mile.

Currently sitting in a pit waiting to play the bass part for Cinderella. I should have brought something to do, this is looking like a very boring gig.

You're right. That, plus throwing one's fucking phone into the backseat where it cannot be reached.

I agree with the car/cd combo. I got a new car and it doesn’t have a cd player. I’m ok with it though, although at first I was miffed. I’m trying to make space-time for listening to music, and to be honest it’s hard to me to really focus while driving.

Cinderella the Rodgers/Hammerstein musical. Although some day I would love to play Rock of Ages, which is a musical of all hair metal tunes.

@augeleven, how do you find the N-R-G to run and lift weights at the same damn time? Is it just yesceboing yourself until it sticks?

I'm training for a half marathon and piling lifting on top would be br00tal

@DCR

when I was waaay broke as a teenager (horrible grades so I couldn't apply for a work permit) and would just listen to albums on my 2GB (!!!) USB stick MP3 player with Dollar Tree headphones. Honestly my fondest experiences of music come from that time

It's just not the same these days

Yeah, it’s not. Sometimes I wonder if that’s the real issue - that while I still love music, it doesn’t (can’t, really) have the same level of importance in my life, and therefore will never stick again the way that it did back in the day.

The prime keys are being garbage at both of the
, as well as using your training as punishment for being a trash person.

Also, start with a recoverable volume on both, and add volume slowly.
But mostly have a 12-13 minute mile pace and squat sub-3 plates.
The yescebo is mostly me pretending to be Stuart Smalley in the mirror. And super obscure magick references…
