training, yeah

I think I fixed my knee with a few weeks of light slow eccentrics.
We'll see if it stays that way in the coming weeks.
Actually, now that you mention it, mine have been feeling way better after switching to 3-0-3 low bar tempo squats with the heels back on for two sessions. But I've also been using light weights (baby) so could be related to deload, too. Too many variables. All that matters is I can kneel down to get all the crap the kid tosses under the couches.

I have a deep hatred for chimpanzees. But lately I can feel our shared ancient blood line coursing through my veins.

Any one know of anything better on Chimpanzee strength? I'd like to beat the shit out of one and watch the lights in its eyes go dark as it begged for mercy, but they have such thick skulls. I can't even get a good handle on just how strong they are. The teeth are the main worry. Looks like they might just have a greater preponderance of fast twitch fibers. Just need to tire it out a little and then finish it off I guess. . . .

A training post. Its below 25 in the garage. I went and got a replacement propane tank, but it seems to be defective. It won't release any gas. Damn it. I can't just exchange it. I got the last one.

Edit: Must have been something with the pressure regulator. Fiddling with it and reattaching it got it to work.

I don't know if this helps, but from what I read humans have the biggest dongs
(controlled for their body size...proportional) than all the other primates.

You might be able to whip out your junk and confuse it a bit at first or something.

Something cuckle-fu something.

Nicely. Lifts moving up slowly but on a consistently upward trend. Ran Bridge 1.0 at the end of 2018, and I'm currently running BBM's HLM v2 program. It's eight weeks long. First four weeks are a dev block and the last four weeks seem to be a realization block (hope I got the terminology right!). I generally enjoy the template. Not thrilled with the press programming (press moved up with Bridge 1.0 programming), but all the other lifts have been moving up. Forever glad I switched off of the stupid Aasgard model.

Training went great for once! I think I’m hitting the sweet spot between volume and recovery on deadlifts, and that, along with maybe figuring out how to get second-rep tight on my first rep, made my 77% 405 deficit pull move around like a warm up. Let’s see how long I can keep it going.

Somehow fucked up slingshot bench on my back-off sets and missed twice because the slingshot pulled one of my elbows in and threw the bar towards my face. Also not really getting a lot of overload from the slingshot either.

Where are you wearing it on your arms? I used to wear mine kind of centered on my elbows, but now I pull it up above my elbows. I could see things going south wearing it on my elbows, because if it popped off it would get all wonky.

My training was nice and easy today. I'm trying to keep the middle days light, but catch a lil' pump. I can't shake this head cold crap, and today I got a headache with it, which surprisingly went away when I benched.

Yeah, I was trying to center it on my elbow, although I think it usually slides above my elbow when I set up. So today I put it a little lower so it would slide to centered after the set up, and now that you mentioned it everything makes sense.

They don't look jacked, but their leverages mean they will outclass you in every way. A rather delusional japanese martial artist* tried to impress a girl by climbing into a chimpanzee's enclosure and challenging it to a fight**. Once the chimp figures out what he was there for, it picked him up and threw him around like a rag doll before throwing him back over the wall.

*So the story said. 'Idiot' is more likely.

Maybe getting your ass kicked is a way to a Girl's Heart? I mean..you know going in you have no realistic chance so you're not going to lose face (apart from the bits of your actual face you might lose) so I can see how that could work.

You know how every Couple has their Origin Story, right?

I wouldn't let that story ^ dissuade you Smu.

I wonder how that whole comparison thing works, "Animal 'X' is Y times stronger than Animal Z (man)" ?
Is this based on comparing their relative strength or something? Relative to their own body weight?
Did they test the chimp's S,B,D numbers? ...likely not.
That chimp hasn't even realized his voluntary hardship yet. Its doesn't even squat.
And that's a comparison between an average human and a chimp.
(As you said, YOU could probably kill several dozen of your co-worker in one shot.)
That, and the martial arts guy probably doesn't even lift (probably a fake, like Hurling).
Your human brain is 'stronger' too than the chimp's too.

Like some 60kg lifter can squat 250, 4x his own body weight....and probably do 25 chin ups (if he trained for chins).
But I'm pretty sure a 6'5" 150kg BW average strongman dude would throw him around like a rag doll.
Like ants are super strong, but can barely move leaves around; and elephants can move entire logs.
There's a certain base weight that comes into play. length of limbs, etc.

Do it.

Had some elbow AIDS flaring up the past couple weeks, so I did my 2ct pause squats with the SSB yesterday. That was.... hard.

I'm not scared of some stupid monkey. The average chimp weighs 100 pounds. If they are 1.3 times stronger than a person, I've got 'em. I'm double his weight. Ya, he does a lot of pull ups. So do I.

He's just got a really thick skull and sharp teeth. You can't really hurt them by punching them in the face. So you got to go for the body. Since he's got the teeth, I get a knife and a hammer.

Look at their pathetic fighting skills. Are you scared of this? If so, you are probably shaving your legs right now with a Gillette razor. (That reminds me. I'm going to shave the corpse. Supposedly, they have light skin on their bodies. I want to verify this claim.)

I found a quora article. The author suggests taking the fight to the water and drowning the chimp before it tries to bite your balls off.

People get so fixated on fiber types lol. It's simple physics. I think Nuckols even mentions Chimp tendon lengths/attachment points in one of his articles (but I can't find it) -- basically their muscles have to do less than half the work as ours to produce the same force. I think I've also heard of a chimp winning tug of war against like 30 men with one arm while mostly disinterested. But maybe I'm making that up :P

Brief explanation from his how to squat guide:

"Attachment points play a huge role because muscles generally attach very close to the joint they move, so small variations can make a big difference. For example, this study found that the patellar tendon moment arm varied from 4cm to 6cm. To produce a knee extensor moment of 500Nm like the example above, the quads of someone with a 6cm moment arm would have to contract hard enough to exert 8333N of force perpendicular to the tibia, whereas the quads of someone with a 4cm moment arm would have to contract with 50% more force to produce the exact same knee extensor moment – 12,500N!"

"Small variations" are observed between humans. We're the weakest primates because those variations are HUUGE between us and chimps/etc.

After reading some of the comments in the quora article, I've decided to take bath salts before fighting the chimp.
