What I hate, is knowing what you and I know, and then these kids are thrown into a school weights program .... and well, you can imagine what happens under crappy supervision and guidance. If he's lifting/learning at home under you, he'll get better instruction.
He can’t control his back well when pulling but he can when squatting. It’s helping his jump though
....it took a while for mine boy to control his back. I say that, but he's more doing something closer to a clean-deadlift than a straight perfectly midfoot-start-hip-really-high deadlift. He has to start with his hips a tiny bit lower than 'the model' to be more sure about his back.
He still can't do a decent looking RDL.

I would think squats would help in basketball more then deads anyway.

Yeah lifting with a school teacher instructing a class (or team) could get sketchy. They’re probably fine anyway (this are they’re probably more injury resistant) but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’m just jealous of all that hormonal advantage he has

My kid (15) absolutely will not gain any weight whatsoever. Stuck at 5'10" / 140#. His bench press will not budge one bit. I think he's pushed right up against his genetic ceiling for where he's at 'chronologically' in his life .... realizing that, I really don't try to push it anymore.
Chin ups (oddly, the thing I suck most at) he continues to get stronger. Deadlift barely moves up (that prob just neuro improvements); his full squat is stuck (like bench).

I tried a period of really focusing on eating a lot more, more protein, etc ..... but after not seeing any gain for a couple of months, I don't push that anymore either.

However .... yeah .... he's quite lean. Defacto six-pack from just existing. lolz, I wish I were like that.

Yes, machine ... currently I'm at a globogym.

When I was doing the home gym thing, I would just do single leg calf raises off of the edge of a fat bumper laid on its side.
Just BW would normally do it (one leg at a time), or hold a DB in one hand.

2-10-2022 THURS.

Nothing to report other than diet stuff.
Today I will have completed my first 36 hr fast.
I ate dinner Tues; did not eat anything all day Wed.
Went to bed last night, and here I am.
IDK, maybe if I can go until lunch today it would be like 40 hrs?

201.4 on scale this morning. I'm sure I'm a little dehydrated tho

I was supposed to lift yesterday (upper), but figured it might be a bad idea while fasting (I've only gone 24-26 hr before).
....so I put it off. There was no time anyways.

Back to fasting:
So the wife says she wants to do a bike class ... and comments the dog is low on dog food (we prepare/cook up homemade dog food).
I ask if she wants me to go to the store or something.
"yeah, if you don't mind ... and pick up some of the round sausage patties for Mikey, he makes those for himself for breakfast. We're out".

OK, so having not eaten for 24 hrs, I go and buy groceries .... walk around the store...looking at food.
Loaded up on food for the boy: bananas, apples, coconut water, sausages, avocados, etc.
Even bought some 95% cacao chocolate for myself...for later.
Come home, boil up a bunch of chicken thighs, and steam up a few small veggies ... making a batch of bulk dogfood.
Smells great! yum! but not 'allowed' to eat. Fucking great.....

The wife was trying to fast along with me; but buckled at around the 22 hr mark.
In fact it was HER suggestion to make a run at a 36+ fast, after Tue's big dinner we had.

....hate to be all m.e.h. about it, but I did quite a bit of shoveling hogging out the tree holes at the desert agroforestry project. Dirt was loose, so I would sorta row-boat the stuff out in continuous robotic-exercise-fashion, rotating sides LRLR..... Took a tiny breather between holes. Total maybe was only 30-40 minutes to do 17 holes but was nonstop enough to get a nice lat. and erector pump, and break a sweat (only 65F outside)

This workout is built around the idea that soon I'm going to start sprinting again. I need to bullet proof my hamstrings, hip flexors, Achilles, etc.

Funny, on the hipflexion knee raise thing I made up....the nonworking leg gets more of a butt and calf pump just standing there stabilizing everything more than the hip flexor/quad on the target leg. Might have to do with that this is after the reverse hyper too (obvs).

Last time I did this sled workout, my hip flexors we're really sore... we'll see this time around.
