This is great, Herr Unpronounceable. I shall incorporate the lift acronyms into my log henceforth.

I am contemplating legal action against you for stealing my "intellectual" property. My people will be contacting your people unless you reimburse me with badges or internet vouchers. Ignore this at your peril.

Is there a badge for stealing intellectual property?

Bump!

unruhschuh, you really do make some cool threads! ))

A few suggestions/additions:

BBM = Barbell medicine (www.barbellmedicine.com)

RPE also deserves it's own hyperlink:
http://articles.reactivetrainingsystems ... nning-rts/

HPS (Hypertrophy-Power-Strength), in light of the recent developments.

BF (%) or bf% = bodyfat

Combinations of "romanian" and "snatch grip":
SGSLDL
SGRDL

Then,
SGHP (snatch grip high pulls, but may be a bit Crossfitty? or is theirs something like SDHP?)

I added them, except the lifts. They seem highly specific.

someone add:

RBE - Repeat Bout Effect; and please add a link to what it even is.

I think its a "diminishing returns" type of thing . . . to seeing the same stress over and over again.
That could be a movement/lift; rep scheme; or whatever
Your body adaptsand seem not to care as much the Nth time around.

Some info on RBE at viewtopic.php?p=76314#p76314

Consider JTS, Juggernaut Training Systems.

You know when you've waited so long to ask your question that's it's now too late and you'll look like a complete dumbass for asking it? Well, since I always feel like a dumbass anyway, here's my question.

What is (weight) x (reps) x (sets) / (training session)? Is it volume, tonnage, or something else? Every time I think it's volume, for example, somebody will say something that makes me think I'm wrong and it's tonnage. Googling doesn't help, because the terms used in links I've read also are unclear.

So please help out a dumbass. What is volume? What is tonnage?

Thanks. <cringe>

(Edited for grammar.)

(weight) x (reps) x (sets) = tonnage
(reps) x (sets) = volume

Tonnage implies you have some information about the weight involved, surely? Volume is just the total number of reps.

Unless you're talking about the volume of the weights lifted, in which case, they're all about 16cm across and about 4cm thick.

Thank you, sincerely.

So, as far as I'm concerned, volume should've been named area, and tonnage should've been named volume. Gah.

As far as I understand it (and for the mathematically inclined), in general, where [math]n[/math] is the number of sets, [math]V[/math] is the volume, [math]T[/math] is the tonnage, [math]W[/math] is the weight, [math]R[/math] is the number of reps in a set, for one training session
[equation]V= \sum_{i=1}^{n}R_i[/equation]
and
[equation]T= \sum_{i=1}^{n}W_iR_i \; .[/equation]

From now on, I'll assume those are the correct definitions and pity the fool who mixes them up! ;)

Nikipedia wrote: Sun May 27, 2018 7:40 pm That is all very correct. The accumulated weight, the total sum. Smart Exodites. Why we need to explain this to the resident math genius is beyond me.
Are you trying to be funny? I assume by "math genius" you mean me. Well, you're very wrong about that. You're also wrong to call it the accumulated weight. You're also wrong to say it's the total sum. As to why I asked for an explanation, the reason was twofold. First and foremost, I didn't understand the terms because I would sometimes see them used incorrectly. Secondly, there's a lot I don't understand about programming, and I bet I'm not alone. I think it would be great if we had some of the knowledgeable people here write a short explainer article, a primer of sorts. Explain the terminology, lay out the different schools of thought, etc. This thread was defining acronyms, and I thought and still think we should include definitions of words even if some of the them are elementary (for example, intensity).

I truly don't understand your post. Maybe it's because I'm not very bright in a lot of ways, but my best guess is it's because I don't understand your humor. Perhaps it's something else. Care to explain?

Possibly. Saying its proper name might summon it, though.
