Are you trying to . .

Close a gripper?
Maybe even the Captains of Crush #3?
Pull 200 on the Rolling Thunder?
Bend a nail?
Certify "Crushed to Dust"?

Or maybe another grip goal?

Interested to see people's grip Goals and training methodologies here.

I have CoC T, 1, 1.5, 2 & 2.5.

I have been within a red cunt hair of closing the #2 several times but never gotten the click. They are frustrating for me as when I work with them routinely my work capacity sky rockets but I haven't been able to find the secret formula for increasing my limit strength before I'm shot from the elbows down. At my "strongest" I could do 20+ reps with the #1 and 8 with the #1.5 but never finished off the #2. Trying to progress via more volume starts to wreck my elbows and stuff like assisted closes and negatives wrecks my wrists and MCP joints in short order.

That's awesome that you got 20 reps with the #1!

I never got more than 11 or 12 reps with the #1. I did manage to close the #2 for a single on multiple occasions. Then I started using straps when deadlifting and lost the ability to close the #2.

I think I could close it again, and will try tonight.

I bought another gripper called the GD-80 and like it more than the Captains of Crush grippers.

I have a totally irrational impulse to buy this thing.

https://www.amazon.com/FIITY-Pounds-Mul ... th=1&psc=1

I have no idea if it's any good. Suspect it's BS. It's expensive. And yet I am compelled to buy it anyway.

I think it might work wrists and forearms in a way that Rolling Thunder and grippers do not, but am not sure.

Seen those before and they look good in theory but not for a $100. I used a sledgehammer for rotational stuff like that.

Indeed. I've come really, really close in the past, but I want to be able to do it for multiple clean reps and get certified.

I've got 2, 2.5 and 3 at home.

I've just restarted grip training again. Nothing fancy....just ~5 amraps each hand every couple of days (technically,, the sets are probably more like RPE 8-9). The first session back was depressing...but within a couple weeks I got to 21 consecutive closes with my right hand on the #2 .

I feel pretty good about this run at #3.

I am also chasing the #3 certification!

Have you thought of the "Crushed to Dust" certification?

And have you ever tried the Rolling Thunder?

I really want to get into grip training more seriously, but my SBD goals have priority until I get some respectable numbers.

I closed a #2 after a week or two of casual grip exercise, and got pretty close to closing a #2.5. I've been playing drums for 15 years, so my forearms are pretty overdeveloped.

Anyone actually done a certification?

I've never specifically trained it, but I love to play with grip challenges.

Not really big feats or anything but I've bent 60D nails, DOH on a regular axle somewhere in the 300's, I've done DOH for 3 or so reps at 265 on a rotating 2.5" axle, I can one hand my 35's smooth side out pretty much any day... I bottom-up pressed a 50lb uh... thing... (it's like a rectangular kettlebell basically, I don't remember what it was... some sort of farm thing haha) one day at I&S before I was aware it was some sort of grip achievement there...

Haven't played with a rolling thunder in a while but I kinda think I could get 200... I also have access to a country crush but still haven't played around with it...

EDIT: Found it finally haha, it was a scale weight...

“Strongman” about “Stanless Steel” on Netflix is relevant to this thread.

I currently have the Sport CoC in my office for some stress relief, and the trainer and 1 at home. I used to be able to do the 1 for 10 reps fully closed, but really haven't messed with it in a long time.. I am feeling inspired.

I’ve been following through with training my grip more, because I’ve been rehabbing a back injury and can’t do as much SBD as usual.

I’m trying sort of a loose DUP (rotating rep ranges and variations, but not planned out in advance). I trained grippers 5 times last week with no apparent adverse effects or lasting fatigue. Strength has increased quickly. Some PRs:

#2x1@8
#1.5x6
#1x12

Can’t close the #2.5 yet, but I’ve got it within a couple of millimeters.

How is everyone else’s grip training? Any programming recommendations?

I lost my 1 so now all I have is my sport and trainer. After my meet later this month I am going to reorder a 1 and get a 1.5 too.

Unless it is very different from the ones I've handled (doubtful), or you're waaaay weaker than I seem to recall (even more doubtful), it would be a waste of money. Maybe a neat gimmick/toy, but not enough to actually be useful. In terms of required strength to max it out, it's the equivalent of the kind of padded gripper you'd find at Walmart.

Well, sir, I wish you'd written this sooner.

I bought it and it was super easy.

Though, luckily, I bought it in Amazon so it's an easy return.

You hold it in different ways (in front of you, behind your head, etc.) and it basically lets you do uncomfortable cardio using upper body muscles.

Incidentally, I bought the Titan "knockoff" Rolling Thunder and love it. Actually seems superior to the genuine, Ironmind rolling thunder.
