Yeah, I mean the farmers in question are definitely some type of white supremacist. I don't know how "serious" it is, but that part is definitely true just based on their reaction to the accusation.
Sounds like they feel threatened by groups of people standing around telling them their kind isn't welcome there. I think that's roughly the correct response if you are virulently opposed to their viewpoints. Public shame. I don't know what literally is happening when these people show up, so I can't judge if it crosses a line, but a group standing in front protesting seems about right. I don't think they should be banned from participating. (Obviously, there is the irony, but it's a false equivalence to say for example, the same thing happening to a Jewish farmer by a bunch of local white people would be the same. Power dynamics matter.)
Also, their other farmer friends illustrate an issue with "enlightened centrism". If you aren't actively engaging with them and just say "well I don't agree, but they seem nice enough" then you aren't doing anything to address the issue, which is a form of tacit support. Of course it's a difficult issue, and I'm not judging them as bad people for not engaging or anything, but it does support the Schooner Creek couple in their views.
I think we may find common ground here by saying that if you say that anyone who holds a view you disagree with is automatically in a bucket of "horrible people" ( a la 2016 "deplorables that are unreachable") you do a disservice to yourself and to them. Even if you think it's probably true, expressing that view doesn't do anything to address the issue. Which again, is easier and completely understandable.
Anyway, back on topic, the level of general incompetence at the MCU is not at all surprising. I work just a block from it and have lots of interactions with those both in the system and who work there. What is surprising and at best vaguely conspiratorial is that extra attention wasn't paid to one of the most high profile detainees in recent memory. I don't think they did anything but give him the opportunity to kill himself, and I can't figure out how without it being on purpose.
