Stan Efferding teaching the SS Squat now

I watched a video of Stan Efferding teaching Jujimofu how to squat the SS way. The only mention of SS was holding up the book. Stan was saying that he now squats with no knee pain. Given Jujimofu's following, will this now catch on?

"Do not post above-parallel squats on these boards."

The SS squat, or as I call it the low bar squat, is a good squat to use. The only issue I have with SS preaching it is that they act like its the ONLY type of squat that is acceptable.

A version of low bar squat.

Correct, a version of it. But again its not a big issue to me that its the one taught by SS, its just that some people have a tendency to think ALL things coming out of SS are wrong just because its Rip.

Another data point where switching to lowbar squat fixed knee problems.

Technique nihilists triggered.

A good video. Rip should hire Efferding to hold starting strength & vertical diet seminars. Not sure about the diet but Efferding is a good coach and based on his response to critiques from BBM, he is willing to listen and change his positions or at least verbiage.

Well he is an accomplished lifter/coach who has been training for a lifetime. He's learned to adapt to changes and such to get better, and hasn't pigeonholed himself to one style of training. The problem with Rip is that he preaches the SS method and only that as the only way to get strong correctly. And as we all can see and know from experience the method will only take you so far then you have to change things up and adapt. Sadly Rip hasn't and won't change his ways and forces out everyone who believes in other ways to get strong.

When my knees hurt, I sit back. When my hips hurt, I sit down. When nothing hurts (rare), I just squat & let stuff do what it does. I can't be the only person who does this.

One big difference here is that Stan is in a position to teach this stuff to actual world record holders or at least people who have the ability to set records — hell, even just really, really strong people.

This. It's weird to me because the blue book taught most of those same people how to lift safely and got them pretty strong.

My favorite moment on the old site though was definitely when some kid had Ed Coan come up to him and tell him how to fix his squat, and decided to make a post about how Ed Coan was clearly wrong since it disagreed with the Blue Bible. And instead of telling that kid Ed Coan was probably right because models are just good starting points and Ed Coan is the greatest powerlifter of all time -- Rip just told him to respect his superiors but keep squatting with his head down.

On topic, liked this video.
