Pre-made Protein Drinks

Pre-made Protein Drinks

#1

Post by sklunk » Mon Sep 30, 2019 5:29 am

My girlfriend has been taking exercise and diet more seriously recently, and I’m trying to help her figure out an easy way to get some more protein in.

My suggestion was simply a daily shake. She wants to start with pre-made drinks to make it as easy as possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions that taste halfway decent? I’ve always found Muscle Milk gross, and Giant Eagle didn’t have the Fairlife protein drinks when she looked (I like those). She’s also mildly lactose intolerant.

monster muscle chocolate tastes good (vanilla is gross.) The Lean Shakes from GNC are pretty good tasting when chilled, not so great at room temperature.

Best bet, go to Giant Eagle or another local grocery/gas station buy one of each available shake. See what she likes/ can tolerate. Also, the price difference can be substantial, especially if you shop local gas stations as they sometimes have good to excellent deals like buy 1, get 1 free.

Most are fair at best... I saw Quest came out with little pre-made 4 packs and they are usually on point flavor wise... price wise is usually high.

To date Quest's cinnamon toast crunch flavor is some of the most bomb ass protein I've never bought lol...

The whole pre-made vs powder thing is kinda mind boggling I guess... I mean its not THAT much harder.

But hey whatever gets em started I guess...

I quite liked the Orgain ones when I had them - they're the only ones I've tried that are available Stateside I think, other than Muscle Milk which you already mentioned. Musashi is OK too I think.

We have a few other brands here which I like more but don't know if they're available beyond our shores....

Thanks, everyone. I agree that it doesn’t save much effort vs. mixing a powder, but if it helps her hit higher daily protein for now, I’m more than happy.

We’ll check out your suggestions!

I haven’t tried Isopure but was curious about it. I grabbed a bottle of Protein2O on a whim the other day. Only 15g protein for $2, but it tasted fine and went down smooth.

Yeah, not a great ratio... I guess it's better than buying a $2 water without the protein in it?
