Holy crap! Sets the IPF world record (83kg) this year at 690 lbs. Now this:
I would say meet prep has gone well.

Just imagine what he could squat if he looked down

Re: Russel Orhii
I'm coached by Sean Noriega, so I'm a little biased, but I'm looking forward to the battle. Russ will get some chips on squat and then Sean is gonna match his chip on bench. If all goes well, it'll come down to the third pull, which is gonna be super exciting.

Re: Russel Orhii
I've been following Russel for a while, and the guy is just a straight genetic freak of nature. His 324kg squat he hit the other day was just smooth and easy looking. Much jealous.

Re: Russel Orhii
Prime example of a guy never squatting to depth in training but also never having issues in comp. He absolutely buried it at Worlds.

Re: Russel Orhii
If Sean wins with his triple cheater SBD form I will be very sad.

Re: Russel Orhii
Just watched several of Sean's squat videos on IG. If you wanna talk about a guy who doesn't hit depth, its him. He seems to stand and hold the weight at the top forever as well, I thought the videos froze each time.

Yep. You only have to hit depth in competition. Of course, not hitting it in training makes me nervous. These guys have a lot more experience though.

Re: Russel Orhii
There is depth, there is training depth, there is IG depth, there is powerlifting competition depth, there is the kola borehole depth and then there is the required depth for IPF worlds.

Re: Russel Orhii
I have no problem with it. I can't squat wide without hip impingement. My back won't bend. And my legs are longer than his, so I can't get that low in sumo. But more power to him. No one said life is fair. Some people have better genetics than others.

Re: Russel Orhii
It's not so much his squat or deadlift that #triggers me, it's the bench. I know it's within the rules and all but damn those 3" ROM bench presses are ridiculous. It makes powerlifting look like a joke.

Re: Russel Orhii
Yeah, I've followed him for a couple years and he'll talk about being smoked after a heavy training day... but that seems to last ~2-3 days max and then he comes back and hits another PRJohnHelton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 1:32 pmPretty unbelievable. His recovery ability must be incredible too given how heavy he is lifting this close to competition. I would be wrecked for a couple of weeks.

Re: Russel Orhii
Joey tends to put these guys on six day upper/lower splits.
Be pretty surprised if Russ wasn’t going:
Mon: squat
Tue: bench
Wed: Deadlift
Thu: bench
Fri: squat
Sat: bench
Sean is a special case and I think he’s back to benching six days a week.
The six day U/L is my favorite for competitive PL athletes

Re: Russel Orhii
They are both genetic freaks and very strong, sound technical lifters. If I were to emulate one of their styles, hands down orhi. His lifts just look better.
