I own a G-Shock square now, so I probably should've fucked around with the wrist roller tonight. I think I had some trouble figuring out when to program forearm work the last time I felt inspired to do so; the day before deadlifts doesn't seem like a good idea, but I'll figure it out.

On an entirely unrelated and somewhat random note, I entertained myself by reading a witty, nine-year-old training log during a lull at work today.

Hope this Tobo/boot29342342 person is doing alright.

I was supposed to press today, but plans got derailed at the start of the morning. Had the day off from work, stayed up a little late last night, and had expectations of getting the lifts done at a leisurely pace.

Wife woke me up to say that the school called, and she was still on the phone with an admin. The boy got himself a two-day suspension, so I went to campus to chew him out and ended up bringing him home early.

Apparently, in the neverending quest to stave off boredom, he judiciously decided to amuse himself by changing some kids' passwords after finding their credentials on a sheet of paper discarded by a teacher.

The new password that he chose? "dickinass69"

So that was nice.

I figured some kind of movement was better than nothing at all, so I just did some shit to mitigate the DOMS that won't go away.

Hoping to press tomorrow; may wait until Tuesday to resume a normal schedule with the lower body lifts.

Not that what he did was right, but what kind of idiot teacher (or anyone) writes down credentials and then doesn't securely discard them? That should get an ass-chewing in itself.

Based on what I was told when I showed up at the school, she will.

We're grilling the boy for yet another rundown of events right now, actually. Apparently, this also happened on Wednesday, and the admin who monitors IP addresses and login events swept it under the rug the first time.

The kid whose password was changed made some Islamophobic comments directed at the boy's best friend, and I guess he decided to carry the grudge on behalf of his friend. He's had access to the passwords for a while, and I suppose today's incident was an escalation of sorts, a flexing of this newfound "power."

So, among other aspects of this fuck-up, we're having to impart to him -- again -- that most bigots aren't worth the time and energy he's devoted to them.

Seconded. I lol'd at the first story, but the follow up had me really rooting for him.

It's a special kind of pride for your kid when they stand up for someone else. Having to explain that it's not useful or productive (and possibly dangerous/harmful) sucks.

Something I read late in life, past year or so, comes to mind repeatedly. And here. I wished I'd learned it earlier. The idea is:

It takes an ignorant person X energy to say some ignorant shit.
It will take you a minimum of X squared energy (in a best case scenario) to explain, in a way the ignorant person can understand, why their ignorant shit is wrong. And it probably won't work.
In a normal scenario the ignorant person will likely learn nothing, despite your efforts, and just further entrench themselves in their position.
This is a roundabout way of saying I'm sorry your son has to deal with this. And I agree with the lesson you're trying to teach him.

There's probably quite a lot I could type out, but I'm just not really in the mood. Pretty sick of the awkward schedule of late; the lack of consistent lifting feels like a piece of my brain is starting to wither, and I'm feeling overloaded with the meaningless interactions that I'm periodically required to undertake for the sake of eating.

Too much excitement at work about a queue of potlucks and dumb, churchy pedestrian shit.

Where work is concerned, I definitely wouldn't consider the usual interactions to be a form of "hanging out." With the strictures of lockdown being a thing of the past, the absolute strangers with whom I work are playing catch-up. Their social neediness is at a new high, and they seem eager to embrace any compulsions that will keep the threat of solitude or existential crises at bay.

I don't care to exchange racy glances with any of them, nor do I care about discussing the plight of the Saints. Neither a Super Bowl, nor a mandatory buffet, seem like any kind of payoff for my mental health.

I am feeling smothered by the psychological needs of people who claimed to be "normal" and "healthy" throughout the past two years.

I almost certainly need a change of scenery; hell, I'd work in a graveyard, if it paid well enough.

But overall, I'm realizing how good the year 2020 was to me, specifically as a supposed loner. People are draining as fuck when the usual interactions are one-sided and only reinforce the fabric of normalcy that I was never too crazy about in the first place.

I'm feeling restless and tired at the same time. I miss a good chest pump.

I miss that like you miss a migraine. That crap gets old real fast, I hang out with people I like and that doesn't have to be people at work.

Working in an office exposed me to women that were openly "Loose", as if they are trying to be as sexually interested as men are portrayed as being. Not a good look usually, but I guess if you are into cheap hookups outside of your marriage... I also did not need to know most of my co-workers better. That's how I came to experience how racist and ignorant most of them actually are, they get a false sense of intimacy over time and get too comfortable so they stop hiding it. Seriously, I thought it was an historic thing and that no one was really like that anymore because my actual friends aren't like that. Then I got to see be there for open conversations amongst my white colleagues when the black guy and the lesbian weren't in the office on night shift. Wow. I don't ever need to find out what they are like when they really relax and act like they really are.
