I wonder, among all the posts on all the lifting related message boards over the past nearly three decades, how many times that previously was typed. Going with zero.
Renascent wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2024 8:10 pmThere was a guy I used to see at one of the Y locations nearby when I was starting out years ago. He would warm up with sets of 10 at 275. Never knew his name -- we'd just nod to each other at most -- but my unofficial nickname for him was "Meathead Billy Corgan" (I never called him that to his face).

I hope to make Billy proud one day and complete a set of ten. Maybe even play "1979" to commemorate.
Absolutely.

Strong pressing work!

That's a lot of shrugs. I assume you've seen good results from them since you're doing so many... Do you feel like it helps your pressing directly, or do you put them in more as an overall strength builder?

I decided to keep some kind of horizontal shrug in rotation awhile back when I noticed some growth in the mid-trap/rhomboid area, but I do tend to notice a difference during presses if I slack off or skip them entirely for long enough.

I added the underhand incline barbell shrugs recently, though I still haven't yet bought Kelso's e-book. They're a huge pain to set up properly, but they feel great.

“Got it done on about four hours of sleep…”

Bro, I’ve said that so many more times than I know I should have. 🫡

200+ strict overhead is no joke

There is very little about @Renascent lifting that is humorous. Especially his pressing and benching. Also his squat and pull when you remember that he doesn't wear a belt. Ever.

Oh yes, he’s strong as hell. I didn’t know he’s perpetually beltless too. Much respect.

As someone who uses his own perpetual beltlessness to justify his subpar lifts, this log is where I come to get my teeth kicked in.

I’m glad I’ve come back to log, because this is already an incredibly awesome one to read through.

Between bats and strong ass pressing, among other things, very cool.
