Munged up the last 2 sessions since I missed #11 but wanted to test singles

Squat belt
275x1@8

Felt heavier than the video shows, but good result, gonna bump training max from 275 to 295 for next cycle.

Bench raw
225x1@10
178x2x3
178x6

A bit disappointed in this one, I think my technique is a bit off for bench right now, or something weird is happening in my shoulders. Training max will go from 215 to 225.

Deadlift belt, DOH
275x1x2
315x1@6?
345x1@8
255x2x4

This felt real nice, good to feel some relatively heavy weight again. That single indicates I should be bumping training max from 315 to 375. Sounds good to me.

Press
10 min density
108x4x6
108x3x2
108x2x2

Should have dropped to 3 a set earlier, hitting @10 mid-density set is bad.

BB Curlz
60x8x4

Top singles:

Starting off on the right foot, missing the first sesh.

Bench raw
151x8x4
151x6x2

I should probably put on the elbow sleeves for this volume. Though the limiting factor ends up feeling like some small shoulder muscle, anterior delt or something. Does that even make sense? Pecs?

Deadlift belt, DOH
275x4
337x1@7?
the pushups, then
275x4x4

Cut a set, I bumped 1RM 60 lbs from C1 and added 5lbs to the Rx bc plate math, and that last rep got to a place that Hanley's programming doesn't usually get.

Pushups
15, 15, 10

Pecs? ded from bench. Dropped 2 sets. Didn't do curls. :/ Going to climb later today! Wedding in 3.5 weeks

Bench
209x1
175x4
172x4x4
172x5

175 was being lazy with 85 already loaded, x5 was hitting the top of the 18-25 rep range.

Squat belt
229x3x6
229x4

Same for the rep range. Probably don't need a belt for these but whatever.

Inverted Row
BWx[8, 9, 7] with [normal, narrow, wide] grip

I did 1-2 more each set but only counted the ones where my chest touched the bar. For your measurement standards.

blatant but I like it

Had another good climbing session Tuesday, did well on some powerful V4 stuff and 5.11c/d top rope. It feels like my finger strength has come back, even though I was pretty inconsistent with doing the 10 minute light sessions after the first couple of weeks. It also seems like I'm reading routes better, and when I take video I notice that I'm a lot quieter on the wall, which is really good. My forearms are still a bit sore and my fingers feel like sausages.

Bench Press raw
146x10
146x8x5

Still not good with high reps, and the last few reps of the last few sets were tough. It feels like it's in front of my shoulder, and near the lockout end of the range, like I can't push my arm towards the front of the socket while keeping shoulders back. Maybe I shouldn't be doing that, but lockout feels soft/unstable without it.

Deadlift belt
300x3
250x3x5

300 just felt way too heavy. It was the day after my bachelor party so that may have had something to do with it. Got some stimulus in.

OHP raw
125x1
7 min @ 106:
106x3x7
106x6

Well weighted and paced density set there. Used the same weight as last time, which was "probably too heavy". Gainzzz

BBC raw
60x8x3

Can't do a full unsupported pistol squat on my left leg anymore.

Shit.

Climbing is going better though. Getting some more V5s under my belt, and did get a V6 a few months back.

AND did my first outdoor boulder, a V2, a few weekends back.

Got a new bike a few months back, a Specialized hybrid gravel/trail bike, 8 speed w/single front gear, disc brakes. I had been riding the bike I've had since high school, and boy is it nice to have one that isn't so dang heavy and also bearings that still work, etc etc. Did a 34 miler on Saturday (prior rides this year probably hadn't topped 20mi), then followed that up with my first lifting in a while yesterday.

Bench
125x6x3
125x5x4

Something in my front/outside of my right shoulder has been getting slowly fucky for... maybe a couple years now. Need to look into it more, but this was light enough to not bug it much.

Squat
185x3

Noped out due to bike ride and fuck squats

SGDL
185x3x4

I may keep with it a bit, my wife also likes the pacing better when I work out with her, and I am decidedly unswole right now. We are also in contract on a house (for the third time, but this seems like it will actually go through) so shit's gonna get crazy for a bit. One side of the garage has high ceilings, so OHP and probably my home climbing wall will be back in action. Really psyched for that.

Are you still liking the Spexialized gravel bike?

I almost got a REI gravel bike when they had a big sale a month or two ago. Still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger.

Yeah, I still really like it. We bought a house about a month ago, and I haven't gotten to ride since then - probably only put about 80 miles on it so far.

42 days post-move in and I don't have a way to hang or lift yet. The garage area is a bit tighter with a car in it than we'd like. There's some built-in storage in the back of one bay that we currently have a bunch of random shit stored in. I think I need to take it all out, set some of it back up on one side, and set up the rack where it was. It might also end up involving squatting while facing a wall, which I hate. I don't know if I'll be able to set my climbing wall back up - my current pipe dream involves it sitting vertically against one wall, with a hinge/pulley/strap system to lower it to a 20-30 degree overhang for use.

Stupid fucking garage has 0 electrical outlets. This house has a lot of stupid things like that.

I am getting kind of antsy not feeling like I have a way to actually train things that I want to train. And I am finding it hard to make time to get the house where it needs to be, and I am finding it hard to set up stop-gap things in the interim. Weekends are always full of things, and striking the balance between social vs. home needs sucks. Regressing at climbing sucks. Not being able to deadlift, which is what I think my back is aching for, sucks. Making excuses sucks. I want to see progress on *something* physical.

No electrical in the garage would suck.

Are there no cheap commercial gym options until you can get a workable setup at home?
(FWIW I totally understand being frugal and/or not wanting to workout at a commercial gym)

Well, apparently I spoke too soon, because during storage demolition yesterday I found an outlet hidden in the back of it, plus another covered box with a line running to it so maybe 2 once I figure out the panel enough to start safely doing some electrical work. So many singular light switches whose off position is up. Tons of hot/negative switched outlets too per the home inspection. Random cutouts in the backs of cabinets to plug a stupid dead strip light into an uncovered outlet.

The storage was particle board shelves screwed into 2x4 frames, and a couple of those were screwed into the wall, but most of the frame was nailed together, and a lot of the perpendicular joints were nailed in from the side at an angle, on multiple sides. At some point some critter took up residence in one spot, the wood was chewed up and also weirdly broken down in a way that made it soft and powdery, and the critter's piss rusted out a bunch of the fasteners. It took me probably 3 times as long to run the de-nailing/salvage effort than it did to disassemble. Plus I don't have a pry/crowbar right now, and many of the pieces were 2 longer 2x4s with 3 shorter ones joining them, and the separation involved setting it on it's side and deadlifting one long side away from the other, then just pulling the cross pieces out of whichever side they stuck to. Felt pretty manly, and I'm beat.

Got the rack set up. It's an SML with the ~96" uprights (anyone want to buy a pair of shorter rogue uprights that I had to use in our last basement? Probably need to be Pittsburgh adjacent) and I think I've got a plan for a hangboard mount that I can just lay over the pullup attachment, which has me feeling a lot better. I have a membership at a climbing gym that's about 20 minutes away and had been thinking I'd need to just lift there as well, but I am not currently lifting-motivated enough that I'd have overcome that friction. If I go there I'm climbing.

For the first time since I got this rack (4 years?), I have enough room to press with 45s.

Now I just need to figure out what lifting I actually care about. I know pullups and rows are in there for climbing. Squat/bench/dead need a little LP just to help with life - finicky back and occasional weakness on the wall when I need something akin to a pistol squat or a mantle. Anything over 225/275/315 is probably fluff for me at this point.

Ok, time to start Hanley's chin pullup every day thing

Pullups AMRAPx4, 120s rest
BWx6,6,5,3

Since I can't leave well enough alone even when weak I did set 3 narrow and set 4 wide. 6 pullups... ok climber. It's a start

Climbed yesterday. Highest send was probably V3, did some work on some hard climbs. I don't project any more, starting to work on that. Being weak makes it harder - ok I know the technique I just can't do it. :/

Was going to do Tuesdays pull ever day after dinner and then we picked back up on a jigsaw that we'd started last week, and I said I'd go do it in 30 mins, and then it was after 11 and the jigsaw was finished minus the 4 missing pieces. Climbing sesh counts as a pull sesh.

Pullups 3x Monday AMRAP
BWx19 singles at [0:00, :15, :30, :40, :50, 1:00, 1:15] and then doubles every :30 from 1:30 to 4:00. Accidental extra that I didn't notice til I typed this out. Kinda burnt from climbing yesterday.

Climbed today. I think it's lack of general body strength and not lack of finger strength that's holding me back. Might start benching and squatting and deadlifting.

I'm allowing myself to not pull on climbing days. If I get frisky before bed I'll do them... I guess it's 5 25s density blocks separated by the 60-75s rest?

Pullups AMRAP, 2m rest, 5m density
BWx7 (woo)
BWx[3x3, 2x6, 1]

That last set was like 1.9 but no chin = no rep. Also some of my fingers are feeling yesterday so maybe it's just everything re:climbing.

Pullups

SGDL
