I feel like I should maybe put this here.



Southern Ohio is currently an insect hellscape right now. The town i live in estimates around 250 cicadas per square meter, and the noise is deafening. Thought I would try to make a dent in the population.

At first. I planned to toss them in olive oil and salt and roast them at 400F for 10 minutes or so, but chickened out and decided to deep fry them instead to hide the flavor. Turned out they were nearly flavorless. I don't plan on doing this again, but at least I can say I tried it.

I saw a quick thing about that Cicadas are arachnids and closely related to shrimp, etc ..... you are are allergic to shrimp shellfish you could have an adverse reaction to eating a bunch of bugs.

They're arthropods of the subphylum Hexapoda (insects). Same phylum (Arthropoda) as arachnids but a different subphylum (Chelicerata). Nitpicking...I know. But yeah, they want people with shellfish allergies to be cautious if they decide to eat them.

Not sure if serious. Cicadas are hemipterans, or true bugs, along with leafhoppers, aphids, stinkbugs, etc, which are all insects. Insects (bugs), arachnids (spiders), and crustaceans (shrimp) are all arthropods.

Shellfish allergy almost certainly increases your likelihood to be reactive to other arthropods, and repeated exposures often worsen the next reaction. I've developed a mild allergy to (probably) the mites that inhabit my flightless fruit fly cultures. If it starts getting too bad I'll have to wear an N95 and gloves when handling the cultures because I don't ever want to not be able to eat shrimp.

Just flies for frogs. And I’ve always been into bugs.

Also, I can barely see 405 in rear view mirror at this point. In fact, I’d be interested in the general consensus on the expiration date for PRs. Maybe we’re all doomed to become “back when I was in high school” guys.

I hear you. I haven't squatted over 225lbs in about a year and a half. I have a hard time envisioning a future of getting back to my 480lb PR squat from just 3 years ago.
