ESM 2021
So, Magnus V is out as head ref with Covid. Tom Stoltman out with Covid. Luke Stoltman wins it, but missed the WR on the Log Press. Novikov wins the Stones, he beat Luke by close to 2 seconds and Luke came second in the Stones. Ridiculous. Rauno got 9 reps on the Axle DL.

Re: ESM 2021
Stoltman won by 1.5 pts. Novikov was close, no one else was. Looks like they destroyed the field. Only Novikov, Hicks and Stoltman recorded successful lifts in the Log Press. The rest of the field failed the starting weight of 180kg. Hicks and Stoltman both got 195kg, Novikov didn't bother after hitting the 180kg, which was the right call.

These are the fails at 180kg. The channel has a lot of footage from the contest.

Re: ESM 2021
Call me a naysayer, but starting the log at 180 was fucking dumb...

Re: ESM 2021
I agree. The idea was that, supposedly, most/all of those guys invited have a 180kg Log Press. And Iron Biby was supposed to compete but had travel issues. The problem is, wood logs are totally different one to another and a different animal than steel, and most of these guys are going to be training with steel logs. Add in the fresh coat of varnish to makeit extra slippery and point a really bright spotlight directly at their eyes so they are blind after the clean.....dumb starting weight. And the warmup log apparently bore very little resemblance to the comp log. Bit if a cluster. Never mind that that was the WR when I competed, and I'm not THAT old.
