Black Widow front squat bar

Bands, chains, wraps, straps, racks... are you sure this is training related?

Black Widow front squat bar

Post by ccoyle » Tue Dec 07, 2021 2:17 pm

Anybody ever used one of these?

I try to avoid gimmicks and gizmos, but my wrists have never been flexible enough to rack a classic front squat. Cross arm and straps have never felt stable.

I tolerate Zerchers okay, but want to do as close to a real front squat as possible.

I also have the problem of not being able to get my hands into position to do front squats. I am considering getting a front squat/zercher squat harness.

From Titan for $99.
Less investment, dual purpose, probably less money lost if you decide you don't need it and need to sell. I have never used any of them so cannot provide a review but may order the Titan model.

Zombie squats or get an SSB and flip it around. Plus you get an SSB out it.

Why in particular are you interested?

I already have a SSB. Wondering if this would be better/different.

My understanding is that the Marrs bar gives you the shoulder reprieve of the SSB without the getting pushed forward effect, so effectively you can squat like you would with a straight bar but without it being harder.

I ordered a few weeks ago. Almost immediately regretted it because it’s probably useless or SSB maybe better option. I liked the idea of having axle bar so that swayed me a little. Well, It arrived and have to say I like it a lot after one use with light weight and lots of reps.

I like front squats over back squats so I think I will use it. Certainly not for everybody but if you have extra $, not a bad purchase.

I saw on IG a while ago that when Dan Green wants the pulled forward feeling of front squats without actually doing them he uses a SSB upside down and not backwards with the pad in front like you see a lot of people doing. Said it mimics them much better.

I don't have a SSB so I can't check but it might be something to look into.
