Chipotle
(1) is getting expensive. And about to raise prices again.
(2) new chicken Adobe (or whatever it's called) is not as good as brisket, but is still delicious.
(3) read an article yesterday. Apparently middle and lower earners are cutting back on chipotle, but high earners are increasing enough that along with higher prices, chipitle continues to increase earnings.

Re: Chipotle
I kinda don't mind the price increases, but the fuck with the serving spoons that are 20% smaller.
i.e they are actively serving/using less product while raising prices at the same time.
fuck them.
A few months ago, I was getting a salad, with dbl.steak and guac .... its almost a $20 bowl at that point.
(I've dialed back to a single serving of meat lately)

You always gotta get double meat because sometimes when they're in a good mood they only charge you for single.

Re: Chipotle
I heard the 'trick' is to ask for double meat AFTER they spoon-on the scoop of meat. Do NOT tell them dbl meat from the onset.
That way, they are kinda obligated to scoop the same amount of the 2nd scoop as they just did for the 1st....hence the term you and I know as "double" ....
If you say double-meat from the get go .... before they scoop anything, they will give you two half-ass scoops to try to moderate things.

But sometimes they f you on the 2nd spoonful anyway. But at least you have a chance when you hold back before the 2nd ask.

Re: Chipotle
Yep, this is what I do. I watch the first scoop like a hawk. If its generous, I don't say anything, but if its not, I'll typically ask for a second. Typically the second scoop is just as weak, but at least I had the opportunity to save a couple bucks if it was generous.hector wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 5:40 pm100% true.mbasic wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 5:31 pmI heard the 'trick' is to ask for double meat AFTER they spoon-on the scoop of meat. Re: Chipotle
I shoukd have said this in the first post, but if you try to speak Spanish, and if you're a regular if you introduce yourself, and learn staff names, that can be a game changer too.

Re: Chipotle
Speaking Spanish at my local Chipotle would lead to massive confusion as it’s primarily white teens working in the place.

Re: Chipotle
About 10 years ago we stumbled upon a Qdoba and it was quite good. Unfortunately, every instance since has been lacking.
Moe’s used to be better also…
Tangentially, Subway has a new menu that seems to downplay veggies. I think it’s because the cost of produce has been pretty impactful to the bottom line.
That and all of these places are having to pay $15 an hour for morons, something has to give.

Re: Chipotle
We have several Moe's Southwest franchises nearby. For years, I favored them over Chipotle etc because of better service "WELCOME TO MOES!" and superior queso. They went downhill so fast after 2020. Nobody yells "WELCOME TO MOES!" when you walk in anymore and it's just sad vibes and questionable food.
But yeah, that new chipotle chicken is pretty darn good.

Stopped at a Burger King in the middle of nowhere in rural PA last week. They were hiring, starting at $17/hour.mgil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 5:43 amAbout 10 years ago we stumbled upon a Qdoba and it was quite good. Unfortunately, every instance since has been lacking.

I stopped eating there entirely when they dropped their meat serving sizes. It was already pricey, but for even less meat? Forget it.mbasic wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 10:14 am I kinda don't mind the price increases, but the fuck with the serving spoons that are 20% smaller.
