Seems you can do DLs, DL variations, and split/lunge type of work with them, but you can also do all that with a regular bar. Main thing I can think of is doing more quad-biased type of DL work, either with a deficit, or even trying to use squat wedges and such.

Is there something you like uniquely about the trap bars? I am mildly interested in them but kind of not sure if they're really worth it for me, especially considering they can be a bit chunky to store.
They are chunky to store.

I appreciate Trap Bar Deads because my lower back isn't destroyed for other activities.

Probably showing my age and weakness, but after a high rep, straight-bar, deadlift day, if I want to bike or play basketball or do bjj my lower back won't let me go as hard as I'd like.

Trap Bar deadlifts don't demand so much of your lower back. I can go heavy-ish (for me), do high reps, and still participate in non-lifting activities without my lower back complaining.

I'm not a PL competitor, so if my lower back gets a little less work and my quads and lats a little more, it's not an unacceptable tradeoff.

Already been said, but I like it as an option when I either do stupid shit to my lower back, or my lower back feels beat up and I suspect that I'll soon do stupid shit to my lower back. I'm also a gym rat with an equipment fetish who does no legitimate powerlifting movements, so it's easy for me to justify specialty bars.

They are indeed large and clunky in a home gym, unless you go with one of the more traditional non-rackable ones like CAP sells. I keep my TItan bar in a vertical 9 bar holder to save a little room, but it's still annoying to move around the gym.

Re: the trap bar

I scrape up my shins doing high volume or high rep deadlift stuff. Trap bar alleviates that. I also like it as a change of pace, so it’s my go to for summertime, shorts season.

I have a small space between my boiler and the stairs where it stays always set up with some bumpers.

I also like it for rows, as a high handle block pull substitute, and for trying to convince other people in the household to lift

I see that The Strength Co. now does "free local pickup" to west central WI (address appears to be a storage unit place, not at all sketch), if any localish/Twin Cities people are looking for Black Friday plate deals. Or a $60 "deadlift mat".

Nothing earth shattering, but I've been needing more change plates for my olympic collared dumbbells, so I picked up a 4 pack of 5# and a 4 pack of 10#.

$67 for 60# isn't too bad.

How wide is the saddle on people's bench setups? i.e. gap between inside of the hooks? I drilled both my hands on Wednesday when I was benching and since stuff is on sale today... Trapped inside atm so can't measure mine (but will measure before ordering a replacement setup).

EDIT: Ordered a Cap rack for 93 dollars, shipping included with 44 or 46 inch inside dimensions. Current inside measurement is 35.5, so huge size increase regardless. Ahoy for not having to do weird shit to rack benches with max effort grip.

Do you prefer one over the other?

The pros are nice, but I like the HDs better. Both are upgrades from the v1s I had that came out in 2014.

I recently bought a pair of Pros to replace a pair of old v1s, but maybe I should have looked at other models. The Pros are nice, but there are a couple of weird choices, like the thick and bulky tongue.

got some Powerblock Elite EXP dumbbells up to 90lbs for under 600, pretty excited to try them out

Got some weight releasers/eccentric hooks for £130.

I’ve never been interested in them before but I just really wanted them all of a sudden. I don’t have a lot of options for overload work with my current setup so they might be really useful.

ElitFTS is running a flash sale for the next 3 hours. Pioneer Cut belt is $120, I don't know if that's good or not, but some stuff is 70% off.

I had these in my cart on Amazon AND Dicks lol - but decided against it. I would really like to support American manufacturing and purchase the Elite USA's but Powerblock's shipping costs are outrageous. They wanted $250 to ship to MA. So even with the 15% off sale that was over $900 compared to $592 on Amazon. Maybe next year.

Was super tempted by the Kabuki Transformer as well. They never have sales and 15% off is a big chunk of change. But similarly just too pricey right now.

What I did end up with is a $18 20 KB from Rogue that's made in the US. Have actually been looking to get one at that weight for dynamic warmup stuff. After shipping I think I still saved $50 compared to the cheapest made in US KB I could find before BF so I'm pretty stoked about that.

Still mad at myself for not pulling the trigger on the 25 lb Boneyard deep dish plates though. That was such a good price and I would have actually used them almost every training day (I superset a lot of stuff that requires 25 lbsers like dips and plate loaded cable stuff).

I don’t think Titan can screw up chains. $81 for a pair of 6’ 5/8” chains seems like an outstanding deal. https://www.titan.fitness/strength/barb ... 20013.html

Would you also need to buy a special collar to hold the chains?
Or do the chains just stay in place?
