I'm confused on so many levels. First why is the fake meat more expensive than the real thing.. I'm no vegetarian, but I've made fake meat at home using textured protein, molasses, coconut oil and a bunch of other things, and its is cheaper than actual meat (I did not buy methycellulose which you should use as a texturing agent but whatever). Second: putting animal products in a meat substitute for vegans/vegetarians ? Is this some sort of surreal humor ?

It's behind a paywall for me, but I imagine that it confirms my bias that they're real dumb.

Just skimming the article
I think ..... think .....
its more about reducing the carbon footprint of food production.
Because they think this will help with global warming.
Raising (real) meat animals allegedly has a high carbon footprint, uses a lot of water, etc.
