Good start to the new block. Back to 5s on squat. I was trying 8s, but they just weren't working for me. Physically, who knows, maybe they'd be best, but psychologically, I just can't push them the same way.

Not a whole lot of changes though. 8s to 5s for squats, swapping one OHP for pin bench, and swapping banded bench for slingshot bench. The biggest experiment I'm doing is not upping the weights or volume on deadlift during this block. Deadlift is my favorite competition lift, but I rapidly come to the point where I don't want to train it, so I'm planning on doing a single around RPE 8 and then 3 sets of 5 at 170 kg for the whole block. For me, consistency seems to beat any specifics for deadlift training, and I think this will let me maximize that.

Also, my in-person summer classes start this week. It's amazing that I'm getting paid to go to college (again) and can still find that a burden. Having to drive up to Tucson several times a week is about the worst thing going on in my personal life right now, and that reminds me that I'm very fortunate.

Going well. Should finally be squatting over 400 for sets of 5 for a normal workout again soon. Two weeks or so.

Power cleans are starting to feel snappy again as well.

Bench is too early to tell, but I'm hoping swapping an OHP for another bench slot will get things moving. I haven't been regressing, but it hasn't been moving forward much either.

Front squats are half and half on how well technique is going. My ankle is finally cooperating, so my knees can go forward, but I've been lazy about working the rack position, so keeping it from sliding my shoulders is a challenge. The strength is definitely moving in the right direction though.

Things are going well. And looking at it now, I didn't have a single session over 2 hours this week. I knew I was going quick (for me) in general, but that still surprises me.

Swapping an OHP slot for pin bench seems to have gotten bench moving again. I'm now also swapping banded SSB squats for pin SSB squats. We'll see if that can help with holding position better.

Making steady progress. Nothing mind-blowing, but it's consistent and it's not wiping me out to keep it up. Over 400 for squat work sets. That's a nice milestone, even if it is one I've been at and beyond several times. That said, I'd have to check, but this may be the lightest bodyweight I've done it at.

Another good session. Deadlifts are also going well, despite the volume being 375*3*5 for the whole block. It's keeping me consistent, and the top rep is going up, so I'm sticking with it.

I really need to start working on my front rack again though. And/or being more upright. The hardest part of front squats right now is by far keeping the bar from slipping down.

Cool. I've just been doing sets of 5, so I'd need to do more practice with heavy singles if I wanted to optimize my 1RM, but my squat strength has definitely trended upward this block. 485 moved at 0.33 m/s.

Press is hanging on alright, despite only doing it once a week. It's not a priority right now, so as long as it's not trending down, I'm happy with it.
